He also designed the distinctive cast iron and glass entrances to the Paris Métro.

Comte Louis de Kergolay (1769-1856) cousin and close friend of de Tocqueville who defended him in a celebrated legal case in 1833 apparently the only occasion on which de Tocqueville practiced law in court. The letter tipped-in here on black-edged mourning paper addressed to `My Lord` presumably also Lord Radnor refers to de Tocqueville`s friendship with the recipient.
