Hauptwerk des bedeutenden Tieranatomen und Naturforschers Jan Swammerdam. Swammerdam (1637-1685) war der eigentliche Begründer der modernen mikroskopischen Sektionstechnik. 'Er schliff Scheren und Nadeln so fein zu, daß er damit auch kleine Insekten sezieren und den Bau ihrer Eingeweide studieren konnte. In seiner Bibel der Natur sind diese sehr detaillierten Studien auf eindrucksvollen, großformatigen Tafeln zusammengefaßt. Carl Vogt & Bruno Hofer Die Süßwasserfische von Mittel-Europa. Atlasband in 2 Bänden. Leipzig, W. Engelmann 1908. Der vollständige Tafelteil mit den schönen, in teilweise schimmernden Farben gedruckten Fischtafeln. Postum von Bruno Hofer herausgegebene erste Ausgabe. Die Tafeln zeigen jeweils mehrere Spezies auf einem Blatt, erläutert durch ein lithographiertes Zwischenblatt mit Silhouette und Namen der dargestellten Fische. Der Zoologe und Geologe Carl Vogt (1817-1895) widmete sich vor allem der Erforschung der Fische. Durch seine illustratorische Mitarbeit an Loius Agassiz' Histoire naturelle de poissons d'eau douce (1839-1842) wurde er zu einem der führenden Ichthyologen seiner Zeit. Sowohl der Herausgeber Wilhelm Grote als auch Carl Vogt, der die Tafeln und einige Textbeiträge bereits fertig gestellt hatte, verstarben bevor das Werk gedruckt wurde. Die editorische Fertigstellung übernahm der Naturkundler und Professor Bruno Hofer. Werner und Winter besorgten den Druck des Werkes. 'Gleich gute lithographische Fischbilder, sei es handkoloriert, sei es im Mehrfarbendruck, sind selten. Merian-Bibel Biblia, Das ist: Die gantze Schrifft Alten und Newen Testaments. Verteutscht: Durch D. Martin Luther. 3 Teile in 1 Band. Straßburg, L. Zetzner 1630. Erste Folio-Ausgabe mit Merian-Illustrationen. 'Die eigentliche Merianbibel' (Hans Wüthrich) in einem bemerkenswerten Prachteinband. Erstmals wurden hier die Illustrationen Merians in einer Foliobibel verwendet. 'Sie ist die gesuchte erste Vollbibel mit Merians Bibelbildern, sehr schön und opulent ausgestattet .. Unmittelbar nach oder gleichzeitig mit der letzten Ausgabe im Querformat veranstalteten Lazarus Zetzner Erben in Straßburg erstmals eine Folioausgabe der Bibelbilder Merians in Verbindung mit dem vollständigen Bibeltext Martin Luthers (1630). Erst von da an kann man von einer richtigen Merianbibel sprechen. Für mehr als 70 Jahre verschwinden dann die Platten, bis 1704 Merians Erben in Frankfurt eine, der großen Zetzner-Bibel von 1630 ähnliche, illustrierte Lutherbibel herausgeben. Sie wurden dazu wohl durch Kopierstiche des Holländers P. H. Schut, die B. C. Wursten 1703 in Frankfurt neu auflegte, veranlaßt. Welchen Weg die Platten von Zetzners Erben in Straßburg von 1630 von Merians Erben in Frankfurt 1704 genommen haben, entzieht sich unserer Kenntnis. Die Ausgabe von 1704 bringt merklich schlechtere Abdrücke, was auf eine ziemlich starke Abnutzung der Platten schließen läßt.' Die große Böhmenkarte war die letzte von einer Einzelperson geschaffene Fundamentalkarte und diente, wie auch Müllers übrige fortschrittliche Länderkarten, bis zum Beginn des 19. 'The emphasis in the Liber calculationum is on logicomathematical techniques rather than on physical theory. What it provides are techniques for calculating the values of physical variables and their changes, or for solving problems or sophisms about physical changes. Thus, the order of the treatise is one of increasing complexity in the application of techniques than an order determined by categories of subject matter' (DSB XIII, 187). Beautiful 'First Edition' Plus Six in the Moonstone Blue launch colour with only 1,325 miles.The Morgan Motor Company’s arrival in the 21st Century was signalled by its first new model in 19 years, the Plus Six and the fact that they were now taking themselves very seriously was the model’s first public appearance at the Geneva Motor Show in 2019 and not in the ballroom at the Abbey Hotel in Malvern as had been the case with previous new car launches. It may look like any other Morgan, but looks can be deceptive. After 110 years of production, Morgan have completely transformed the car without changing the classic traditional look, in fact the only part this car shares with previous models is the bonnet catch. Underneath that classically styled bodywork lies Morgan’s new CX chassis, only the fourth new platform in Morgan’s 110 year history. (CX is 110 in Roman numerals). The CX-Generation aluminium bonded platform has been designed and developed for use in Morgan’s future high-performance models and features a 100% increase in torsional rigidity over the previous aluminium platform as well as being considerably lighter weighing-in at less than 100kg. In a nod to traditionalists, Morgan’s century-long association with wood continues with an Ash frame surrounding the cockpit with is designed to increase stiffness in that area.Snugly fitted underneath the Plus Six’s hand–rolled and hand punched aluminium bonnet is a 2,998cc, 24 valve, turbo-charged, straight-six cylinder power unit from BMW offering 335bhp @ 5,000rpm and 369lb.ft of torque @ 1,600rpm and coupled to an 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox. One of only 295 'Giallo Ferrari' Evo 1 Limited Editions with less than 17,000 miles from new.From the mid-1960s until the early 1990s, Lancia was a major force in international rallying, winning the ‘World Rally Championship for Makes’ no fewer than 11 times between 1972 and 1992, including a remarkable six successive victories commencing in 1987. During the same period, Lancia drivers won the European Rally Championship on 14 occasions and the World Drivers' Championship (only instigated in 1978) four times. Badged as the Delta HF 4WD on its introduction in 1986, the model retained the Volumex supercharger initially before switching to a straightforward turbo when transformed into the Integrale in 1987. The latter would prove a supremely capable rally car, winning the World Championship in both 1987 and 1988, yet in road trim remained a thoroughly practical family hatchback. Integrale performance was boosted further by the introduction of a 16-valve cylinder head for the 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine in 1989, maximum power increasing to 200bhp and top speed to around 220km/h.Homologated to maintain the works rally team's competitive edge, the first Evoluzione models were manufactured towards the end of 1991, incorporating wider front and rear track, appropriately altered bodywork, an engine re-mapped to produce 210bhp and a number of other detail improvements. The Evo 2 was essentially the same but came with a catalyst in the exhaust system, however, it’s the original Evoluzione that is nowadays generally recognised as having the closest connection to the original Group A cars and consequently is the more desirable of the two. With the Integrale's reputation firmly established, Lancia began offering a number of limited-edition variants, split pretty evenly between those that featured a non-standard colour and those that celebrated their rallying heritage. One of the rarest and most collectable was the 'Giallo Ferrari' of which only 295 were built. They were finished in Giallo Fly with a black leather interior and a number of small cosmetic differences.With an odometer reading 27,772km (16,605 miles) this delectable Integrale Evo 1 must surely be one of the lowest mileage Evo 1s on the market today. The meagre mileage can be partly explained by the fact that the Lancia appears to have been secreted away, unregistered, shortly after it was new and with only 75km on the clock for over 8 years before being discovered. We can only assume that a ‘canny’ Italian dealer felt sure that a rare, limited-edition Integrale with delivery miles only would be sure to appreciate in value and, in that, he was certainly correct.Our vendor purchased the Lancia in 2005 from Bill McGrath Maserati in Kimpton and was pleased to find that the car was accompanied by an impressive history file “ from month of manufacture to present day.” From Fiat Auto UK, there is a Declaration of Conformity, British National Type Approval and a Dating Letter confirming that the car was built in July 1992. It appears to have been first UK registered on 13/04/2000. There is a copy of Auto Italia Magazine from September 2000 which contains an article offering a guide to purchasing an Integrale which includes half a dozen photographs of this car looking immaculate and a caption stating “There are still a few new cars around, this one was bought in Italy recently with just 75km on the clock.” The history file also contains a Manual/Warranty for the Kenwood music system, a Sigma Alarm Installation Certificate, factory Owners Manual, a grand total of 21 MOT Certificates with a Gov.UK MOT History and a substantial amount of service and maintenance invoices, mainly from our diligent owner.In a note to us he explains "During my ownership the car has been regularly maintained and serviced regardless of the mileage which includes all belts and bearings changed every 3 years, the last one including a water pump. Tarox discs and pads are fitted. All suspension has been removed and powder-coated, anything that was found needing replacement was replaced - bushes and bump stops etc. The car has wanted for nothing and all maintenance carried out during the winter months by Lancia-trained technicians. Body underneath has been treated to Dinitrol protection and all inner cavities injected with Teroson HV350 Wax Oil purely for preservation. During this process, absolutely no corrosion was found in the car." In the winter we understand that it's stored on axle stands with the wheels off and kept warm and dry. One of only 51, UK-supplied M3 Sport Evolutions, two owners, a full history and superbly presented.Offered here is 1 of 51 E30 M3 2.5-litre Sport Evolutions supplied new to the UK and first registered in June 1991 finished in Brilliant Red with a Sport Evolution cloth interior, sunshine roof and rear head restraints. In 1996, after five years of enjoyment, the car was sold to our vendor, a BMW franchise owner and a good friend of the original owner, with just 29,000 miles covered. It has now covered just 65,000 miles and has been dry stored correctly under a fitted cover in a heated garage when not in use.The condition of this beautifully preserved example can only be described as excellent and, we are informed by our vendor, that there have been no accident repairs ever and the car drives exactly as you would expect with relatively little use. The paperwork history is complete, accompanied by the original BMW book-pack with original service book stamped up-to-date and supported by invoices showing that this M3 has been regularly and correctly maintained by a combination of BMW main dealers and AC Schnitzer UK distributor. The cylinder bore was increased to 95mm (from 84mm) and a long-stroke crank was added to boost displacement to 2,467cc (from 2,305). In addition, the valves were enlarged and a more aggressive cam was fitted. Special nozzles sprayed oil under the pistons to keep them cool. All Sport Evolution motors were equipped with catalysts. The end result was a power increase to 238 hp at 7,000 rpm, though peak torque decreased slightly (over the Evolution II) to 177 lb.ft at 4,750 rpm. These engines use the regular black cam cover but have red spark plug wires. The gearbox remained unchanged but the 3.15:1 final drive was fitted. Like the Evolution II, the Sport Evolution has thinner glass, a lighter trunk and bumpers, and brake cooling ducts in place of fog lights. In addition, it also has a smaller fuel tank. For homologation purposes, the Sport Evolution has unique front and rear spoilers with adjustable extensions for greater downforce, even wider front fenders, and reprofiled grille slats with sealed gaps for better aerodynamics, all of which have negligible effect on the street. The M3 Sport Evolution also sits 10mm lower than the normal E30 M3."This is a rare and special car, the final evolution of the E30 M3 with known history, low mileage and low ownership. Car #014 of just 50 official UK-market Passion Red examples; only 25,000 miles and just a single previous owner.By mid-1996, Mitsubishi's rallying success began to really reflect in Lancer Evolution sales. The 1996 WRC season brought Mitsubishi, together with a blisteringly quick Finn named Tommi Makinen, its first World Rally Championship drivers' title. The fiercely competitive Makinen borrowed the phrase "maximum attack" and used it to devastating effect. By 1997, rallying had captured the imagination of petrol-heads all over the world and Mitsubishi sold 6,000 Evolution IVs in the first three days of its launch! In quick succession, the Lancer Evolution VI came to be and in the latter-half of 1999, Mitsubishi unleashed a special edition to celebrate its favourite son’s four consecutive WRC drivers' titles from 1996-1999 - the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI 'Tommi Makinen Edition' (TME). The Evolution VI was already a technological tour de force, but the TME had a more responsive titanium turbocharger, uprated and lowered suspension ('tuned to give improved initial response on tarmac surfaces'), quicker steering, a different exhaust, a new ECU, beefed-up transfer case internals, a redesigned front bumper for even better cooling and authentic 17-inch WRC Enkei alloy wheels. Plus, there was a special interior, featuring embossed Recaro seats, a MOMO steering wheel and red stitching. The performance upgrades saw the 0-60 mph sprint obliterated in 4.4 seconds and a maximum top speed of 150 mph. Power was rumoured to be over 300 bhp, rather than the 276 bhp 'agreement'.Widely regarded as the finest Lancer to wear the Evolution badge, it was now available in five colours, with Passion Red and Canal Blue joining Scotia White, Pyrenean Black and Satellite Silver. Only 250 TMEs (across the five colours) were officially imported into the UK, with 100 examples going to Australia, and the rest sold domestically in the Japanese Market. Official figures show that of the UK's allocation, only 50 examples were in Passion Red, the signature colour for a TME. According to Mitsubishi, it was these Passion Red cars that automatically received the renowned racing decals, known as a 'Special Colour Package' (SCP), meaning these cars were factory-fitted with black door handles (so as to not break the line of the long profile decal). In the world of Mitsubishi aficionados, the consensus is that there were just 212 official factory SCP examples of the TME produced worldwide.The car presented here then is very special indeed. Not only is it a genuine Evolution VI Tommi Makinen Edition (CP9A / SNGF2) SCP car (i.e.1 of 212), but it is also an official UK-market example. This means it was officially imported by Mitsubishi-affiliated 'Ralliart UK', hence it would have been professionally SVA'd and is supplied with UK service books, a calibrated speedometer, an unleaded-spec fuel restrictor, cold-climate battery and an alternator, plus it is individually number with a plaque in the cabin - here it reads #014, making this car one of the first few officially designated for the UK-market.Supplied new via Grosvenor Garage of Tunbridge Wells to its original owner, a Mr Roger Conway of Kent, he owned and cherished the car for almost 21 years (being the car's only previous keeper), applying his private registration number of 'ROG 4Y' to it; he also ensured all its original Ralliart paperwork, history file, with many receipts, plus its original and complete book-pack were retained, and they accompany the car today. Remarkably, this very special car has covered a fully verifiable 25,000 miles from new, supported by MOT and service records. Number 50 of 50, the final Cooper S ever made, 952 miles and the property of Mrs John Cooper. Now that is special.After the arrival of the new generation of MINI from BMW, nostalgia for the older cars remained intact in the hearts of enthusiasts, particularly those that had owned one or grown up with a ‘Mini’ during their teenage years. Two years after her husband, John Cooper of Mini Cooper fame, had developed for himself a “very special” little Coop and almost at the end of production of the first generation cars, it’s not surprising that his wife also decided that she would also like a customised example.This is a ‘Works’ model with a power output of 90bhp (up from the standard car’s 63bhp). Modifications and enhancements included a specially prepared cylinder head, reworked intake manifold, air filter housing and a bespoke dipstick. Other parts bearing the ‘John Cooper’ moniker included the wheel centres, aluminium pedals, oil pressure gauge, the clock and a stopwatch. The cover of the steering column, the fuse box cover and bottom of the dashboard were all covered in leather in the shade of ‘Granada’.Before production of the Cooper S finally stopped, Mrs Cooper managed to secure one of the last produced, in fact, it was the last produced, Number 50 of 50, and was finished at her request in Brooklands Green with a white roof and an interior in Granada. The car rolled out of the Rover factory on April 25, 2001 and was registered S90 BHP on the 3rd of September. With its Limited Edition status and very appropriate ownership, this is an exceptional Mini.
