As Forskal died in Jerim it was Carsten Niebuhr, the leader of the expedition and only survivor, who published Forskal's manuscripts. Many zoological species are here described for the first time. * Hudson (Sir Robert Arundell, 1864 1927, Politician). An original pen and ink cartoon of Hudson as a begging dog with a flat cap, by W. S. Gilbert, c. 1909,. also signed Bab and captioned Poor Dog Tray drawn on paper, approx. 12 x 11 cm, a little spotting and adhesion marks to corners, pasted onto the front free endpaper of The Bab Ballads ..., by W. S. Gilbert, 6th ed., 1906, b&w illusts. throughout, telegram from Lucy Gilbert, dated 1909, now split into four parts with one part pasted below caricature, hinges weak, orig. cloth gilt, a little nicked at head of spine, 8vo, together with other related Hudson items including a good quality half morocco gilt scrap album, lettered in gilt, and comprising 25 leaves of newspaper reviews of Spender's Memoir of Robert Hudson, plus loose photos and letters and a 20th century edition of Edward Lear's Book of Nonesense with Hudson's ownership signature During the First World War Hudson was Chairman of the Finance Committee for the Red Cross and his skill and determination to raise funds had him described as "the most skilful begger of the war period". Gilbert's original caricature drawn at an earlier date refers to this begging trait which made Hudson's name a household word. (approx. 15)

The best edition, very considerably expanded and emended from the first edition of 1821. The plates in volume one are dated 1854 and published by John Murray (as in the Blackmer copy), those in volume two are dated 1841 and published by Rodwell. It would seem likely that leftover sheets of the (1841) work, together with the original title page, were simply re issued in 1854 with the new plates. (2)
