Rossetti, from his mother, 1876' (ink inscription to front free endpaper). William Michael Rossetti was the younger brother of Dante Gabriel Rossetti, and a year older than his sister Christina. His mother was Frances Mary Polidori, sister of John William Polidori (author of The Vampyre and physician to Lord Byron). William was a founder member of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, and edited their literary magazine The Germ. He also edited the diaries of his uncle John William Polidori and the collected works of D.G. Rossetti and Christina Rossetti, as well writing a biography of D.G. Rossetti.
