There are areas of paint loss left hand outer edge margin, bottom edge margin and top edge margin. Areas of paint loss to the lower right margin, and specks of paint loss in the lower right corner. There are areas of paint loss to the lower left corner as well as small specks of paint loss across the centre of the painting. There is evidence of retouching to the top central margin in areas of the sky, as well as the foreground in the lower right and left corners. There is a dent to the top most right hand corner to the surface of the board but minimal paint loss. The item would benefit from a clean.

A PAIR OF FRENCH BRONZE FIGURAL MANTLE GARNITUREEARLY 19TH CENTURY modelled as kneeling angels on Rosso antique ormolu mounted plinths32.5cm high Condition Report: Both with the marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use.Various chips of loss to marble bases - see images for details. The bronze and gilt metal elements with the expected wear and deposits. Two old screw holes visible to the top of each marble behind the figures. This is possibly where the figure has moved position/fixture or if the figure and base are associated. There are also old plugged holes to the rear edge of each marble base from where a mount once sat but is now lacking. Some filler used to the marble in places. One gilt metal mount with later small nail used to help secure. The rings that the figures are holding aloft appear to be lacking an element that sits on/above them. The blocks of timber to the undersides and the nuts securing them vary between each item. One of these block has burn marks. Please refer to additional images for visual reference to condition. Domville, the Victory between September 29 – November 16 1864, 12 pp, moored in Portsmouth Harbour, describing mostly the various drills the cadets had to practise (rifle, cutlass etc.) followed by the log of H.M.S. Victoria, 129 pp, November 16 1864-December 18 1865, voyaging from Spithead to Gibraltar, Valetta, Barcelona, Rosas, Genoa, Spezia, Leghorn (Livorno), Castellamare, Naples, Valetta, 6 pen and ink maps and plans of varying sizes and 10 illustrations of varying sizes, 2 full-page and with hand colouring, describing mostly washing the ship and clothes, overseeing ‘young gentlemen’ at cutlass drill, trimming sails, dealing with the engine, etc., 2 logs in one volume, half roan, gilt anchor in panels of spine, leather label gilt on front cover, a few signs of wear, 12¾ x 8in. (32 x 20 cm.); together with H.M.S. Victoria, 130 pp., December 19 1865 – May 23 1867, from Malta to Patras, Argostoli, Zante (Zakynthos), Cephalonia, Ionian Islands to Syracuse, Augusta, Cagliari, Port Mahon, Farignano and Valetta, 2 pen and ink drawings and 7 pen and wash maps, the daily remarks very similar to preceding item, binding and sizes identical with preceding item(2)
