Lot 1

An 18th century Continental pine and inlaid travelling cabinet, the hinged top above three faux drawers, central cupboard door enclosing "secret" drawers and an arrangement of six further drawers with a simple plinth, width 63cm (af).The cabinet was used by Bishop Thomas Fanshawe Middleton who was a noted Anglican Bishop and became the first Bishop of Calcutta. He took this role in 1814 when the Diocese included not just India, but the entire territory of the East India Company. The cabinet has come from the family and it is believed that this is the travelling chest that accompanied him in India. CONDITION REPORT: All sides, top and bottom have heavy wood worm holes, extensive veneer loss and moulding missing on the front of several drawers and to the plinth. please see further images to satisfy yourself with the condition of this item as it has multiple issues.

A 19th century mahogany six leg extending dining table, the rounded rectangular top raised on lobed fluted tapering legs to brass caps and castors, with two associated leaves and capacity for even more leaves, length with two leaves present 280cm. CONDITION REPORT: Extensive and poor restoration throughout. Associated timbers. Leaves are clearly replacements. Area of staining and poor finish to top. CONDITION REPORT: This item is a marriage, the drawer fronts do not belong with the dresser base, extensive restoration and repair and conversion throughout piece, old wood worm holes present to back bracket feet.

MOORCROFT; a William Moorcroft "Clematis" pattern tube line decorated small baluster vase, on green ground, impressed marks and sticker to the base, an oval bowl decorated in the same pattern, 23 x 13cm and a circular "Hibiscus" pattern decorated example on blue ground diameter 14cm (3). CONDITION REPORT: Each item with some areas of crazing in particularly the oval bowl, and vase, the vase has mild scratching to body, otherwise all appear to be in good condition.

A mid 18th century foldover top figured mahogany Tea Table in the Irish style, the front legs carved at the knees with foliate ornament and centred with flowers and terminating in large claw-and-ball style feet, 75cm wide CONDITION REPORT: Some minor historic water damage to top, old historic dowel repair where rear left hand leg meets rail, some scratching and scuffing to lower legs commensurate with age, minor crack to right hand return frieze approx. 3cm, historic repair to front of right hand leg at pad foot, upon opening the rectangular hinged top a 10cm slip is prevalent to front section and other historic splits are also present, otherwise item in generally original country house condition, when the table is folded over does not create a perfect square (but almost), extends to 75cm wide x approx. 73cm long, there are some old historic horizontal splits grain wise to the interior of the table.

ADDED LOT A good mid 18th Century mahogany (probably Cuban) oval drop leaf gate leg Table, single frieze drawer and raised on cabriole legs carved at the knees and terminating in pointed pad feet CONDITION REPORT: Very good overall condition, at some stage it has probably been sympathetically re-polished, no signs of woodword, real faults or repairs, rule joints are good, very minor 1.5cm section away near the rule joint on the drop leaf which is visible as a triangle when the leaf is lifted, on the same leaf on the other side there is approx. 10cm split which has been repaired some time ago and doesn't really detract from the overall appearance of the item, there is also a corresponding split to the other leaf which again doesn't detract from the item and is only visible upon close inspection.

A late 19th/early 20th century Asian white metal Beaker of fine quality, the gilded interior hand planished and the exterior body very finely worked and engraved with various animals amongst scrolls and foliage etc., and between two continuous bands of further scrolling foliage, 10.5cm high CONDITION REPORT: Item is very heavy, there are a few discernible dents to the bottom of the big foot, the item has a gilded interior and apart from the dents to the foot appears in very good overall original condition, the underside of the foot has scratches and small dings commensurate with age.

A gentleman's steel cased Omega Wristwatch, the silvered dial with baton markers and signed Omega, Geneve, the date aperture at the 3 o'clock position, the winding symbol with Omega crown and the back of the case stamped waterproof, on black leather strap, within original box and with original paperwork dated 1972 (over wound) CONDITION REPORT: This item has been overwound, a few light scratches otherwise fairly good overall condition.

Treen interest - an 18th century fruitwood Knitting Sheath/Love Token (possibly Welsh?), the naively carved and pierced handle bearing initials and the four playing card suits, the scoop slightly tapering to the right, together with one other smaller 18th/19th century bone Scoop (possibly an apple corer?), the Knitting Sheath 17.5cm, (2) CONDITION REPORT: The larger piece does not have a hole at the end but does have two vertical window shaped piercings, small bone scoop is quite dark with only very small and minor chipping to the end of the scoop, (only really visible through close inspection), the larger fruitwood item, although when viewed from the front the scoop bends to the right the rest of the piece appears to be in good general original order with nice colouration etc., the end of the scoop also exhibits very minor chipping and what looks like a natural wood grain crack (very small and only really visible on close inspection).

1912 FA Cup Final, Barnsley, a gold winners medal, awarded to George Edward (Paddy) Travers, Barnsley beat West Bromwich Albion by one goal to nil, in Extra Time of a replay at Bramall Lane, Sheffield. George Travers was born at Newtown, Birmingham, on 4th November 1888, the much travelled inside forward played for a great variety of League and Non-League clubs either side of the great war. He arrived at Barnsley in 1911 via Bilston Utd, Rowley Utd, Wolves, Birmingham, Aston Villa, QPR, and Leicester. He made a total of 84 League appearances for Barnsley, and scored 21 goals, he was transferred to Manchester Utd in 1914 and later played for Swindon, Millwall, Norwich City, Gillingham, Nuneaton, Cradley Heath St Lumes and returning to Bilston Utd. After his football he went to New Zealand, briefly returned to the UK, contracted TB on his return to Birmingham, and then returned again to New Zealand where he died on 31/08/1946. The vendor of the 15ct Gold Medal, which is engraved, discovered the medal in New Zealand, a few years ago, a superb item.
