A RARE 'OVERLAY GLASS' IMITATION SCROLL-SHAPED PORCELAIN BRUSH REST INSCRIBED WITH THE MARK OF EMPEROR QIANLONG 清代 仿乾隆款 罕見的玻璃仿青花筆架 CHINA, QING DYNASTY, POSSIBLY QIANLONG MARK AND PERIOD Made up of porcelain and resting on three tiny round feet, this exquisetely delicate porcelain brush rest has been shaped as a painting scroll with curvy ends. It has been adorned with thick saphire blue enamels, the top part centered by five bats surrounding a shou (longevity) character amidst a geometric pattern, the side parts with mythical beasts, all against a white ground. The base has been all covered with turquoise blue enamels but for its central part, a reserved square, on which an iron-red two-character mark of Emperor Qianlong is painted.
