The first item in fine condition, the second with some oxidisation/corrosion to the aluminium the two other reels in good average condition

General overall wear and several tears and crude repair with loss. An English porcelain cabinet plate, well painted with a central still life of fruit or flowers on a marble ledge and with three border reserves of further still lifes or a musical trophy by J Rouse, signed, each in a raised gilt cartouche reserved on a sky blue ground gilt with festoons and tendrils, in shaped gilt rim, 24cm diam, c1880 It is interesting to observe Rouse has used an identical composition to that in lot (item 86) . Restored, the restoration old and having yellowed with time but of fine appearance

All in fine condition, one or two spots of wear to the gilding on the rim of the saucer of the last mentioned item

The Norwegian Polar Expedition, 1893-1896, 2 vol., first edition, presentation copy from the author to Armitage (inscription in Armitage's hand), also signed and inscribed by Armitage, frontispieces, plates (some colour) and 4 colour folding maps, 1 with small tear repaired, slightly foxed and browned, original gilt pictorial cloth, slightly rubbed, corners bumped, lower covers and spine of vol. I damp-stained, 8vo, Westminster, 1897; and another, vol. II of the above title, 8vo (3). Inscription reads: "To Albert B. Armitage with the Author's affectionate regards. 1897." Armitage's inscription reads: "The first to sight 'Nansen' after his departure from the 'Fram' as he approached Northbrook La[nd]." Further inscription in the second mentioned item: "Alb Armitage 2nd in Command Jackson-Harmsworth N. Polar Expdt 1894-7. 2nd in Command British National Antarctic Expdion and Navigator of 'Discovery', 1901-4."
England v. Hungary, November 25th 1953,. programme in orig. printed wrappers, 2 cm closed tear to upper cover, slim 8vo, together with another non-related item. England lost the game 6-3 and Hungary have ever since been hailed as the first foreign side ever to beat England on English soil, although England were actually beaten 2-0 by the Republic of Ireland at Goodison Park in 1949.
