Ca. 3rd - 2nd century BC. A gold jewellery set comprising a necklace with griffin-head terminals and a matched pair of earrings with winged Eros figures. The necklace features a finely looped chain composed of reel-and-loop links, terminating in opposing griffin heads with detailed facial features and rounded ears. Cylindrical collars with inset garnet inlays connect the terminals to the chain, while a hook-and-loop mechanism is integrated between the heads for closure. Each earring consists of a twisted gold hoop that expands into a sculpted winged Eros figure, depicted standing with outstretched wings and hands resting on the hips. The facial features are rendered with small, incised details, and the figure is adorned with a cross-body sash composed of small granulated beads. Five toes are individually defined, each with a rounded tip and shallow grooves at the base. A falcon head at the ankle features a prominent brow ridge and a curved beak extending forward. A circular perforation runs through the ankle, suggesting attachment. The underside bears a column of hieroglyphic cryptographic inscriptions enclosed within a deep border.
