A Scarce late 19th century vampire slaying kit, with  provenance, formally the property of Miss I & F Willitts. ( As denoted within a silver cartouche) The kit comprises of a solid wooden outer case, with brass swing handles to the lid, and the left and right sides. To the lid there is an applied white metal shield shaped plaque, with another overlaid white metal of Mary holding the infant Jesus. There is a painted name to the lid, which is faint in places, but appears to read ‘Miss I & F Willetts’ The interior of the box has been ebonised, and also has a gilt painted outline to the lid and base. A brass crucifix has been screwed into place on the inside of the lid. Within the outer box, sits a leather bound bible, by Cassell, Petter & Caplin of London. The bible is sat on a fitted tray with fold down handles, which allows the bible to be easily lifted from the box. The bible only contain a few pages to the front, and when the pages are turned, it reveals a hidden cut out section inside. The top fitted tray section houses a percussion pistol, with chequered walnut grip, brass mounts, and a pivoting ramrod. Plus, a collapsible cup in a watch style case, brass powder flask, a brass box, and a leather bound 5 draw miniature telescope. The top fitted tray lifts out by mean of 2 brass ring pulls, and this reveals another fitted section below. The bottom section contains a small leather bible, a white metal crucifix, rosary beads, a silver topped jar with a paper label for ‘Holy Water’, 2 small brass ecclesiastical candlesticks, and a brass hammer and stake (the former is made of 2 parts and screws together). Also included is an 1889 probate Indenture and similar  vellum documents.  Complete with original key. Approximately 40.5cm by 21cm, 30.5cm deep. Condition: generally good.
