Titanic an extremely rare souvenir tissue handkerchief issued to commemorate the Liverpool dead from the Titanic c1912^ featuring a printed illustration of the vessel^ with accompanying text^ and listing the various members of the crew who came from Liverpool. Original folds but in remarkably good condition^ with floral borders still retaining fresh colours. A piece of classic ephemera - these tissues were very popular at the end of the 19th/ early 20th c^ but obviously from their very flimsy nature very few have survived. This is the first such item commemorating the Titanic which we have seen.
Autograph - Ernest Hemingway and Fidel Castro printed card showing a graphic illustration of the famous meeting between Hemingway and Castro in 1960^ one of a limited edition of 10 (this being number 3) signed by both Hemmingway and by Castro to base. It is dated May 20th 1960. This has been consigned by a vendor who has spent a considerable number of years in Cuba and who obtained it in Havana some years ago. He has stated to us that on obtaining the item he took it to an expert in Canada who tested the paper and verified that it was correct for the period. He also verified that the paper used was expensive and difficult to print on - particularly in Cuba where paper is hard to come by. A total of 10 cards only were produced^ each signed. The event depicted was a fishing tournament which Hemingway organised and Castro won. It was one of the few times the two ever met^ and the date of the tournament was five days before this print is dated. The print is based on a famous original photograph.
WWII - Eva Braun^ wife of Adolf Hitler A small diary for 1940 bearing the yellow metal clover leaf emblem of Eva Braun to front cover^ and signed by her with the address `Munchen/Wasserburger Str.12/ 480073` to inside page^ together with interlinked clover leaves with two lady birds surmounting the written signature and address. The original pencil is still present. Fine condition. The diary is otherwise blank. It was issued^ clearly as a promotional item by Mari Braun (? relative) `Feine Damen moden/Munchen/Residenzstr. 6/11.` The item comes with a photocopy of a letter of provenance (in German) by IlseFucke-Michaels^ and a colour page from a previous German auction catalogue showing this^ and a few other items associated with Eva Braun.
