Lot 159

98,5 x 92,5 cm. The Third German Reich 1933 - 1945 - Leading Personalities of the 3rd Reich : Führer Standard.Important large size Führer standard for the personal use of the Führer and Reichs Chancellor Adolf Hitler. The Führer Standard standard was used by Adolf Hitler on official occasions such as military parades or the Reichs Party Rally in Nuremberg along with major party events and state events. There were different versions depending on the significance of the occasion or the purpose of its use. These standards were not produced in a regulated form like the Wehrmacht regimentaln standards, but were commissioned by different manufacturers depending on the occasion and significance. Therefore, there are a number of very different versions ranging from the simple linen styles for ships and boats to the smaller embroidered styles used on the wreath bows for state funerals. Large elaborate styles were reserved for the personal use of Adolf Hitler, such as the example offered here at auction. Our "Führerstandarte" is a magnificent piece of outstanding embroidered quality. The standard features a black, upright swastika with white edges on a white circular field with interwoven silver-plated bullion threads. It is surrounded by a highly vaulted embroidered oak leaf wreath with overlapping oak leaves made of gold-plated bullion and silver threads in different shades. In each corner of the standard there are two gold embroidered Wehrmacht - Eagles and two gold embrpidered NSDAP party eagles. This Führerstandarte features the very best gold bullion thread embroidery. The use of different materials and techniques to create a three-dimensional effect is quite stunning. A subtle light and shadow effect is achieved through this process. The standard is one-sided and was therefore most likely used at large political events for the speaker's podium or for the Führer's private booth at operas, etc. The standard shows clear signs of age and use, an indication that it was used on numerous occasions. In this stunning and impressive quality, only a few examples are known worldwide. As one of the most important symbols of the Third Reich, it is an extraordinarily important collector's item of historical value. Ideally suited for a museum exhibition. Measures 98.5 x 92.5 cm.
