**Please note for clarity the original exhaust and tyres will be available after the sale, free of charge, to be collected from the vendor. The custom car cover and dash cover will be with the car.The ‘factory underseal’ is incorrect and is actually wax oil that our vendor removed and cleaned from the underside and engine bay, with some parts still visible in the door shuts. The car is totally unrestored and for every MOT the underside was sprayed with ACF50 to protect and preserve the immaculate condition of the car.The spare wheel is brand new, and Ford First Aid Kit, supplementary workshop manual, original owner’s guide wallet from Bristol Street Motor, original boxed fog lamps, tax disc holder and original car mats will be included.** Arguably the finest condition RS500 we have brought to market. #433 presents in wonderfully original condition with an incredibly low warranted mileage of just 12,802. On offer from 21 years of cherished ownership with multiple concours wins under its belt. If the RS Cosworth was an homologation car, the RS500 was an evolution special. Once Ford had built the requisite 5,000 RS Cosworths, 'Group A' rules allowed an upgraded 'evolution' model to be launched. This could carry changes focused on improving its racing potential, provided Ford sold 10% of the original number as road cars, hence the 500, with the vast majority (392) being finished in Black, 56 in Diamond White and 52 in Moonstone Blue. All RS500s had modified bodywork and the cachet of being hand-assembled. Indeed, during the model's 30th Anniversary year in 2017, the RS500 was named the 'Ultimate Cosworth' by one of the UK's biggest one-make car shows. The car presented here is the 1987 Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth, #433, finished in Diamond White and despatched from Tickfords on 6th August 1987 to Bristol Street Motors of Cheltenham. It was immediately registered by its first keeper as E100 GFH, before becoming the totally appropriate E433 COS during our vendor’s ownership. The condition of the car is truly remarkable. Iconic Auctioneers (formerly Silverstone Auctions) has been fortunate enough to bring over 30 RS500s to market, and this is undeniably one of, if not the, best of all. The paintwork is immaculate, with no evidence of having been touched over the years, appearing to be all original. The interior of the car truly sets it apart from the rest, having benefited from living in a temperature-controlled garage, under a custom-made RS500 car cover, with custom-made covers protecting the dashboard, gear knob and steering wheel, a wonderful example of just how cherished this ‘pride and joy’ car is. Mechanically it has never been messed with, retaining all its original parts, except for the new/old stock original specification exhaust, with the original item accompanying the car at the sale.In 2007, our vendor set his mind on sourcing and buying the best RS500 he could find to add to his Collection, and that is exactly what he achieved here. Following months of research, viewings and knowing the right people, he was able to find the car in question, #433, and purchased it for what, at the time, was the highest ever price paid for an RS500. Shortly after taking delivery in 2007, he set about removing as much of the factory underseal as possible in order to showcase the condition of the car’s underside being as strong as the topside. The well presented history file makes for confidence-inspiring reading and displays the same amount of attention to detail as the rest of the car. The original book packs are present in their original wallets, including the main stamped service book up to 9,167 miles, a large quantity of invoices for parts and maintenance and almost every single MOT from new in chronological order, confirming the car’s low indicated mileage. Although only used very lightly, the RS has been regularly serviced, maintained and detailed during our marque-expert vendor’s ownership, primarily undertaken by him, including two cam belt changes. His ‘perfectionist’ attention to originality can be illustrated by the fact that his cars are always stored on padded mats to ensure that the tyres never become squared-off due to lack of movement. The original set of tyres will accompany the car at the sale, alongside the original exhaust. This uncompromising approach might explain why this gleaming white RS500 may well be the best you have ever seen, and truly needs to be seen in the metal to be fully appreciated.#433 has been lovingly taken to shows and events where it has won a borderline embarrassing amount of awards, undoubtedly as a result of its incredible condition and microscopic attention to every detail. We understand that #433 drives as perfectly as you’d imagine, with a pure, unspoilt and original feel.Well known and much respected within the Owners Club, just 12,805 miles indicated, recently serviced with a fresh MOT and documented long term meticulous care from a dedicated owner all suggest that this is a remarkable opportunity and we invite and encourage your viewing of this best of breed example of a model that is considered the 'high-water mark' in Ford’s enviable back-catalogue.SpecificationMake: FORDModel: SIERRA RS500 COSWORTHYear: 1987Chassis Number: WF0EXXGBBEGG38799Registration Number: E433 COSTransmission: ManualEngine Number: GG38799Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 12802 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Grey ClothClick here for more details and images
With just one previous registered keeper and 49,960 miles from new, this rare MB Quattro is in fabulous condition and fresh to market. Audi's Quattro is a legend that re-wrote the form book in International Rallying, as well as causing rival manufacturers to rethink their offerings and was, quite literally, a trailblazer. The story began with Audi chassis engineer Jörg Bensinger, who spent a Finnish winter testing the Volkswagen Iltis, a four-wheel drive West German military and forest service vehicle, and found it could outperform all other machines on snow, whatever their type or power output. He put the idea of a four-wheel drive version of the Audi 80 Coupé to the company's hierarchy and, well, you know the rest. The resulting model was launched to great excitement at the 1980 Geneva Salon and then released to European customers later the same year, powered initially by the WR-prefixed, 2,144cc in-line, five-cylinder, 10-valve SOHC unit with turbocharger and intercooler. For the 1988-model year, Audi introduced the most significant changes yet. The second-generation Quattro was cosmetically little altered but, at its heart, the new Quattro MB had an engine that was 93cc bigger than before at 2,226cc. It was fitted with hydraulic instead of solid lifters, compression was increased from the original 7:1 to 8.6:1 and a new KKK K24 turbo replaced the early car’s K26 item. Turbo-boost was reduced from 0.68 bar to 0.56 bar and there was a new electronic 'wastegate' control. Although the MB Quattro's official power output of 200bhp at 5,500rpm was unchanged, the new car offered peak torque lower in the rev range: 270lb/ft at 3,000rpm instead of 285lb/ft at 3,500rpm. The Quattro’s 5-speed manual transmission was uprated with a Torsen torque-sensing differential and the brakes were uprated with twin-piston calipers and a larger master cylinder.Production of the MB Quattro continued from August 1987 until July 1989, at which point it was replaced by the 20-valve RR variant, making the MB the rarest iteration. On offer here is a very special, UK-supplied, right-hand drive Quattro MB that's showing just one previous registered keeper on the V5 and had only covered 49,960 miles from new at the time of cataloguing. First registered on 25th August 1988, the car is finished in Nautic Blue and is accompanied by its original service book (12 stamps), marketing material, booklets and previous MOTs.The last service recorded in the booklet was in April 2000 at 49,347 miles so, remarkably, it’s only covered 613 miles during the past 24 years having been cherished in long-term storage for over two decades. In the past couple of years, the Quattro has been thoroughly mechanically recommissioned in order to return to the road and the results of this hard work are clear to see. The car now boasts a current MOT valid until July 2024 and we really do recommend interested parties come along to Sywell Aerodrome to see this example in the metal. To find a rare 'MB' Quattro that shows just one previous registered keeper, has covered less than 50,000 miles and is fresh to market from long term ownership is a rare opportunity and this one will surely reward a closer inspection.Specification Make: AUDI Model: QUATTRO 10V Year: 1988 Chassis Number: WAUZZZ85ZJA900593 Registration Number: A601 XAM Transmission: Manual Engine Number: MB001349 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 49960 Miles Make: RHDClick here for more details and images
**Please note the car is not fitted with the dog ring gearbox but a CAE short shifter kit fitted by Pro Alfa. **A smart example of Abarth's ultimate FIAT 500 development, the 190bhp 695 Biposto optioned with the £8,500 'Dog Ring' gearbox. In recent years, Abarth has essentially become to FIAT what Alpina is to BMW; a high-performance 'skunkworks' division that takes something good and makes it great. Based on the cute and much-loved 500, the Abarth 500 came first, then the 595 Competizione and finally, at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, they launched the 695 Biposto. The Biposto designation comes from the Italian for 'two seats', indicating its focus on performance. The car has gained notoriety for its unique and engaging driving experience and one of its key features was the phenomenally expensive optional 'Dog Ring' gearbox, developed by Bacci Romano. The 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine was lifted straight from Abarth’s 695 Assetto Corsa race car, with a 10bhp power increase over the Abarth 500 and 595 to 190bhp and 184lb/ft of torque. Fitted with an Akrapovic dual-stage exhaust with twin titanium tailpipes, 0-60mph takes just 5.9 seconds on the way to 143mph, retardation is provided by high-performance Brembo brakes and stability is assisted by a mechanical self-locking diff.Visually, the Biposto has a distinctive look with a large rear spoiler, carbon front and rear diffusers, lightweight OZ 18" alloy wheels, a new front bumper, wider arches and new side-skirts. Buyers could have it in any colour they like, as long as it was Matte Performance Grey. The car is incredibly light, weighing in at 974kg dry with the interior being somewhat spartan, with a tiny hint of luxury. It features leather and Alcantara Sabelt Abarth Corsa racing bucket seats with 695 stitching, optional carbon shells, a titanium rear brace by Poggipolini and carbon fibre door panels. No radio or air conditioning with the focus on saving weight. This 2016 example presents incredibly well, arguably even better than new, due to its recently reupholstered interior and is thankfully fitted with the all-important Dog Ring gearbox. It has covered a mere 16,200 miles from new in the hands of its three owners and comes with a full-service history, with another service undertaken to prepare it for sale, along with a fresh MOT. The car is fully ceramic-coated with its callipers re-coloured to the Biposto 220 branding. It’s finished in the usual Matte Grey paintwork with Lime Green details and bronze wheels. The interior has been fabulously upgraded with tan leather seats, the gear shift surround, door cards and carpets and these features make this little pocket-rocket stand out for all the right reasons, as if the £8,500 gearbox wasn’t already enough of a standout feature.Having partaken in just two half-day track sessions, our vendor has shamelessly been bitten by the track day bug and with the Biposto’s bigger Italian brother having already arrived, it is time for the Abarth to find its next home.Presumably due to cost, only a small number ever left the factory with this amazing gearbox, making it a sought after collector's item. So seldom seen in the UK, with examples fetching comfortably north of £35,000 globally, this very attractively priced little Italian jewel could be a fun addition for any Collection or enthusiast.SpecificationMake: ABARTHModel: 695 BIPOSTOYear: 2016Chassis Number: ZFA3120000J375297Registration Number: AP16 ZYFTransmission: ManualEngine Number: 1960160Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 16200 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Tan LeatherClick here for more details and images

A large flowerpot with a sculptural image made in an oriental motif is a large bowl with a high cylindrical body, resting on a flat pedestal (four-bladed) and supported by two fairy-tale animals with the head of a dragon and the legs of a bird. Fancy polychrome coloring with geometric and other patterns is made in bright and contrasting colors. The surface of the pot is decorated with multi-colored friezes in relief with stylized cartouches, inlaid with ivy leaf motifs, edged with pearl friezes, the upper edge of the pot is decorated with 8-pointed stars. In general, the ornamental pattern is formed by decorative elements characteristic of similar porcelain paintings of this era. The glaze coating gives the item shine. The author of the sketch of the flowerpot model is A.S. Kaminsky (1829-1897), Moscow architect and artist, professor at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, husband of P. M. Tretyakov's sister (founder and owner of the art gallery of the same name). For the first time such a flower pot was made at a factory in the Tver province, which belonged to S.I. Maslennikov in the 1880s (the factory was founded by Auerbach). Maslennikovs factory was famous in Russia for its majolica products used to decorate chapels, as well as mugs made for the coronation of Emperor Alexander III. After a fire occurred at the factory in 1889, it was acquired by M.S. Kuznetsov, and its owner went to work for the new owner, where he worked until 1896. As M.S. Kuznetsov practiced, along with the purchase of the factory he stipulated the right to use and repeat the factory's old models. Sometimes, with such a purchase, he also stipulated the use of an old production mark (for example, the Gardner plant - the use of the last trademark of the enterprise with a double-headed eagle, the use of surviving models of products for the manufacture of repetitions; the Auerbach plant - the image of a double-headed eagle in the trademark). Under the leadership of Kuznetsov, the company began producing majolica products in 1885. Presumably, in the early 1890s, M.S. Kuznetsov's enterprise produced a small batch of S.M. Maslennikov's flowerpots intended for public sale. An identical vase is kept in the collection of the State Historical Museum in Moscow (GIM No. 112833). - A vase of a similar style was presented at the Russian Art'' auction at Sothebys on November 30, 2016, lot 126A Majolica, textured processing, painting with enamel paints. Mark of the M.S. Kuznetsov factory in the Tver province, Vyshnevolotsk district, Chernyatka village (former S.I. Maslennikov factory). The production mark is embossed and made in dough. The model number indicated in the price list of the factorys products is 671 (in the test) and the foundrys index (?) is 26 (in the test). The condition of the item is very good. Slight abrasion of paint along the upper edge of the flowerpot. Height - 33.0 cm. Flowerpot: diameter - 21.0 cm, height - 23.0 cm. Pedestal (flat, four-blade): length - 29.0; width -18.0 cm. An Elizabeth II Parcel-Gilt Silver Cup and Cover, by Asprey and Co. Ltd., London, 1965, Designed by James Porteous Wood, Craftsmen Keith Tasker tapering triangular and on openwork base, engraved on two sides with inscriptions, the detachable cover openwork and with a gilt triform leaf-form finial, on conforming triangular rosewood base 34cm high including base, weight of silver 34oz 12dwt, 1,076gr The inscriptions read 'The Carreras Piccadilly Northern Cup Ripon August 1965 Won by Major L. B. Holliday's "Finish Fast" (Fidalgo Javotte) 21-8-65' and 'Bilsdale Hunt Perpetual Challenge Cup'. James Porteous Wood was born in Edinburgh and went to the George Heriot School, though he left when he was only 14 as his interest lay in studying art, which he subsequently did at the Edinburgh College of Art. His early artistic expression was through watercolour painting, which he did around Ripon while based there as a non-commissioned office during the war. His talents were recognised in 1945 when he was elected to the Royal Scottish Watercolour Society. It was perhaps as the Director of Art and Design for Asprey that he was to make his greatest impact with commissions such as an 18ct gold bowl which was presented to President Eisenhower and a model of the Dome of the Rock which was commissioned by King Hassan of Morocco. With a diameter of some 175cm the creation has been described as the most important piece of silver ever exported from the UK. His works rarely appear on the market but what does appear shows a similar flare for design and the use of luxury materials. Two items by him, both marked for Asprey, were included in the exhibition Embellish: The Art of Hand Engraving, held at Tennants in the summer of 2023. They were both kindly loaned from the Pearson Silver Collection and included an 18ct white gold and quartz-set box made to commemorate the Chester Assay Office and a salver engraved as the Totalisator Spring Handicap trophy. Interestingly on each of those examples credit is given to those involved in the creation of the item, the salver for example also being made by craftsman Keith Tasker and the box engraved by Theodore C. F. Wise, a nod perhaps to his interest in encouraging young talent, which he also did by sponsoring an annual art prize at Mallaig High School. With non-transferable CITES A10 licence no. 24GBA105BNYPB. Fully marked on one side near rim and further part marked on cover bezel. The marks are generally clear. The base further stamped 'Asprey London; and engraved 'Designer Porteous Wood' and 'Craftsman K Tusker'. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use as well as some minor bruises. The base with three later screw holes to allow the cup to be fixed to the wood base. The wood base with fading and some holes where plaques were originally attached. There is some glue residue to the base as well.

The item in the cherub's left hand is also mostly missing (possibly originally a cornucopia), although this is very old damage. There is also a piece missing from the left hand side of the dolphin's tail. See photos. There are no splits to the lid around the base and no repairs that we have noted.

The inscriptions on the base record that this vessel was made in the year of Xinyou of the Zhizhi reign, corresponding to 1321AD during the Yuan dynasty. It was dedicated to the Confucious Temple located at Zhongqing Street, traceable to the still-standing Confucious Temple built in 1302AD in Anning county, Kunming city, Yunnan. While archaistic bronze ritual vessels are not uncommon, bronze ritual vessels documented to have been made for use in local academies and temples such as the present example are extremely rare. It is the largest of the three halls of the Inner Court, located at the northern end of the Forbidden City. During the Qing dynasty, the palace often served as the Emperor's audience hall, where he held council with the Grand Council. Objects, especially censers, bearing Qianqing Gong mark are deemed similar to ‘Neitan Jiaoshe’ mark (內壇郊社, refers to the altar to Heaven and Earth within the inner walls of the Temple of Heaven) as Imperial wares adorning or used in their specific rooms. Compare to an example of a bronze tripod censer with chilong handles, Qing dynasty Qianlong period, with a different treatment of the ‘Qian Qing Gong’ mark, sold at China's Guardian, 19 May 2021, lot 4634. Stylistically, a comparable large bronze tripod censer with chilong handles, dated to the late Ming dynasty, note the similar treatment of the waisted band with ridge on the mouth, sold at Sotheby's London, 22 February 2022, lot 50; Two other censers with similar design on the mouth, dated to Ming and late Ming dynasty, were sold at Christie's London, 18 Mar 2015, lot 686 and Sotheby's London, 10 November 2017, lot 366.

A Chinese overlay Peking glass snuff bottle, Qing dynasty (1644-1911), the rounded body in the shape of an elephant in red, against a white snowflake ground, the stopper with an ivory spoon,6.3cm highProvenance: From Travers Christmas Humphreys QC (15 February 1901-13 April 1983) via his wife's will executor, her goddaughter, and thence by descent.Born in London in 1901, Humphreys followed in his father's footsteps to become a prominent barrister, and was responsible for the prosecution of several controversial cases during the 1940s and 50s, before later becoming a judge at the Old Bailey. A proponent of Buddhism, he wrote a number of works on Mahayana Buddhism, and was probably the best-known British convert of his day. In 1924, he founded what became the London Buddhist Society, which was to have a seminal influence on the growth of the Buddhist tradition in Britain. He was also an enthusiastic advocate of the Oxfordian theory that the works of Shakespeare were, in fact, written by someone else. His former home in St John's Wood, London, is now a Buddhist temple.清 雪霏地套红料太平有象鼻烟壶IMPORTANT NOTEThis lot contains elephant ivory material.
