POSTAL HISTORY AIRMAIL CRASH MAIL :Compagnie Generale Aeropostale service, 1930 Toulouse to Dakar double crash. Envelope sent from Germany to Rio de Janeiro. On 19th January LATE' 28 attempted to land at Barcelona but crashed on a quay. The mail was reloaded on to LATE' 25, a night flight to Casablanca, but the pilot turned his plane over whilst landing on the beach at Kentira, Morocco. Fine item!
An interesting Victorian walnut and marble top and mirrored back credenza, having mirrored door - the owner believes that this was an item removed from Osborne House in the 1870's, when staff and contents of house were being reduced, following the death of Prince Albert. An incredible superb condition 'unused' original WWI First World War Princess Mary Christmas Gift Tin 1914. The tin itself in superb condition (the best we've seen), and contains one completely unopened packet of woodbines / cigarettes, one packet of part-used Woodbines, the Christmas Card from Princess Mary (with envelope) and the small slip-in photograph of Mary. Supplied within an outer box, which also features crushed flowers. As sent back home in a parcel to the Searle family of Bedminster, Bristol. Incredible item.
A rare early WWI First World War ' RNAS ' ( Royal Naval Air Service (later the RAF)) propeller hub mounted cockpit clock The wooden propeller being a service-used example, with various numbers impressed (AD555BRH 110H 'Clerget' No.761 BA&MC D2590 P2670). The the centre is mounted a period 8-day ' Swiss Made ' cockpit clock / dash watch. The watch can be neatly removed from the hub by means of twisting. To the front of the hub is a small mounted enamel 'RNAS' badge. Fascinating item. Measures approx; 28cm tall.
*Battle of Britain. A section of tail fin from a Messerschmitt Bf 110 night fighter, made of aluminium with a section of a large hakenkreuz (swastika) painted in black and white on green, with a large tear and chipped paintwork, approx. 80 x 46cm (31.5 x 18ins)Note: The panel was found by the current owner in the attic of Markstone Cottages on the Child Okeford Estate in Dorset in 1978. The cottage had previously been occupied by an estate gardener and his wife, and after his death the cottage had been put up for sale and purchased by the current owner. According to the owners research the gardener had been in the Home-Guard during WWII and this panel could well have been recovered by him as a “war souvenir”. It was found in old newspaper between the beams in the attic, an interesting item and worthy of further research.

A Chinese porcelain circular shallow bowl painted in underglaze blue with Eight Immortals to the top and with three lucky bats to the outside, bearing Ming four character mark to base, diameter 14cm, and a further circular dish decorated with figure in garden with butterfly within lobed floral border and ornamental band, with similar decoration to the outside, unmarked, diameter 11.5cm (2).The first item was purchased in Singapore, the other at Sotheby's Pulborough in 1983. CONDITION REPORT: The immortals plate appears to be in good condition, only with some wear to the base, the further plate has got star hairlines to the glaze of the centre, also with areas of imperfections, small chip to one of the raised points of the shaped rim, otherwise appears to be in good condition.
A late 19th century French gilt metal mantel clock surmounted by three putti, the circular dial set with Roman numerals and with Japy Fréres movement, numbered.to movement and the left rear support stamped 'Charles 40', height 37.5cm (af). CONDITION REPORT: The left figure lacking item originally held, the back plate encasing the movement is missing, there is surface wear and rubbing to the gilt throughout, the figures have casting holes to heads, has not been tested and cannot guarantee working order, also there has been a repair to one of the supports on the right hand side.
