With two excellent newspaper features 'Moonlight Major's kidnap drama' the capture of General Kreipe, and shepherd boy George Psychoundakis BEM known as 'The Cretan Runner' who took part in the kidnap and of hoaxing the searching German troops. Two Victorian white bonnets, together with a quantity of children's clothing. Note: The bonnets were worn by the vendor's great grandmother, a Zennor woman who would go out into the fields with a bucket and stool to milk her cow wherever she found her. Condition Report: Bonnet 1: Small hole at back, part of the ribbon at the back has been torn off. Spots of discolouration, otherwise fine. Bonnet 2: Fraying around front edge. Significant tearing of the section that hangs down at the back. Spots of discolouration. Children's Clothes: Some discolouration, tear in sleeve of one item, otherwise fine.
A Third Reich Kriegsmarine Officer's Dagger, 25cm blade by E & F HORSTER SOLINGEN, etched with scrolling foliage, fouled anchors and dolphins, regulation brass hilt with spirally fluted celluloid grip, contained in its engraved brass scabbard, complete with knot. By descent this item was collected by Albert Peake R.N. during the raid on Narvick.

All edges gilt. Silk endpapers. Volume I containing a full-page copperplate etching depicting a Spanish insurgent, and a foldout map of a battle plan.
