Lot 1205

A 1796 pattern heavy cavalry dress sword, with etched blade and folding hilt, with wire bound wood grip, with leather scabbard. 100 cm overall (currently fixed within its leather and brass scabbard). CONDITION REPORT: The sword is firmly fixed in its leather scabbard however there is a 1.5 cm section that we can see is engraved on both sides. The spine of the blade is inscribed J J P***. The wire grip is slightly loose but this may be due to an attempt to withdraw the sword from the scabbard. There are small indents around the metal mount of the scabbard this would seem to be where attempts have been made to prise the item open. In conclusion the sword can not be drawn from the scabbard.

Lot 1230

Fiore de Henriquez (Italian/British 1921-2004), stylised bronze bust, mounted on a wood plinth. Overall width 28 cm, height 41 cm, signed and dated 75. NOTE - Her debut exhibition held in Florence 1947 and following her move to Britain she exhibited at The Royal Academy in 1950. She produced work to commemorate The Festival of Britain and spent many years touring North America working and lecturing. One of her biggest achievements was a restoration of the abandoned Italian settlement of Peralta. In 1968 she began restoring the village with the local and surrounding inhabitants supplying all parts and labour. Peralta became a well known retreat for artists (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This item is from a deceased estate and the deceased was a personal friend of the artist. The deceased's father was the Head of Geriatrics at Whitehaven Hospital for which Fiore De Heneriquez undertook a commission to produce a bust for the Hospital Trust. The vendor has also provided but not include with the sale an exhibition catalogue for the artist dated 11-27 November 1975 at the Centro D'art La Barcaccia which highlights the sculptures in the same style as the one on offer. There is also a printed card advertising a lone portrait sculpture exhibition at 25 Cheyne Walk, London September 22nd-October 2nd 1975. The sculpture itself is approximately 26 cm high and 16 cm across. From the attached images you should be able to see that the item is signed and dated 75.
