A late Victorian stained hardwood collectors' cabinet, circa 1900, with six drawers containing various spices and specimens; a Victorian Pratt Ware Ross & Sons Genuine Bears Grease pot lid, 7.5cm high; two further pot lids; and a quantity of other items of pharmaceutical interest, including three Italian ceramic jars, an early 20th century Boots branded glass bottle, and other itemsProvenance: from the Estate of the late Donald SparshottCondition Report: The Ross & Sons pot lid has two small chips to the rear, and the rear is mostly clean though has some minor marks which can presumably be cleaned. It has two tiny shallow chips/nibbling to the bottom edge. The gilding is a little rubbed on the edge of the scene around the writing, with loss of gilding to one side (about 4-5cm loss), and there are the usual minor marks, knocks and scratches overall. There are a handful of tiny raised dots on the surface, possibly irregularities in the ceramic or glaze. There is a diagonal line across the bear's neck, where the colour of the print is a little lighter. This may be loss of colour due to wear or printing, and it does not appear to be a damage to the ceramic itself. The colour is quite well preserved and the item is in overall presentable condition.Condition Report Disclaimer

Sinclair C5, 1985, serial number 10005201348. 12 volt, 250 Watt. To Be sold on behalf of Martin House Hospice, Boston Spa and St. Leonard's Hospice, York. On 10 January 1985, the C5 was unveiled at a glitzy launch event but it received a less than enthusiastic reception from the British media. The vehicle's limitations - a short range, a maximum speed of only 15 miles per hour, a battery that ran down quickly and a lack of weatherproofing - made it impractical for most people's needs. It was marketed as an alternative to cars and bicycles, but ended up appealing to neither group of owners, and it was not available in shops until several months after its launch. Within three months of the launch, production had been slashed by 90%. Sales never picked up despite Sinclair's optimistic forecasts and production ceased entirely by August 1985. Out of 14,000 C5s made, only 5,000 were sold before its manufacturer, Sinclair Vehicles, went into receivership. Despite its commercial failure, the C5 went on to become a cult item for collectors. Thousands of unsold C5s were purchased by investors and sold for hugely inflated prices - as much as £6,000 compared to the original retail value of £399. Enthusiasts have established owners' clubs and some have modified their vehicles substantially. Sold as seen, in need of restoration, it has been in long term storage.

The image of an elephant carrying a vase represents the rebus taiping youxiang which carries the sentiment of wishing for peaceful times. An elephant with a vase is a visual embodiment of this expression, as the Chinese words for vase (ping) and elephant (xiang) are homophonous with two words in the saying. Due to their association with this phrase, during the Qing dynasty live elephants carrying vases on their backs were featured in processions celebrating the emperor's birthday. Their presence at these ceremonies was hoped to ensure long-lasting national peace and security under the reign of the ruling emperor. The elephant itself is also symbolic of peace and stability because it is a heavy animal which stands firmly with its four feet flat on the floor.清 銅鎏金嵌百寶裝飾天青石雕太平有象擺件 一對來源:Lionel de Rothschild(1882-1942)舊藏,Edmund de Rothschild(1916-2009),英國漢普郡艾斯博瑞莊園。
