Lot 1075

A pair of French patinated and gilt bronze figural five branch candelabra, 19th century, the five branches amongst flowers in turn above a muse holding either a basket of fruit or a sheaf of corn, all upon circular bases with foliate decoration. Height 54.5 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The figure representing Spring has three removable sconces missing. The flowers are darker patinated and some rubbing has occurred to the leaves, petals & stems. The gilding on the figure is good. There is gilt rubbing to the high points on the base and some signs of verdigris. The figure is structurally sound and regardless of any faults it is still a decorative item. Its partner figure representing Autumn has one removable sconce missing. One flower is missing its stamen. Similar to its partner figure the gilding on the branches, leaves and petals is darker patinated and rubbed. The gilding on the figure itself is good. The gilding on the base is rubbed on the high points. Overall these are an attractive pair of figures.

A Benin bronze plaque, depicting three warriors. 30 cm x 21 cm. CONDITION REPORT: There is no provenance with this lot. There are numerous small holes throughout although these were made during the manufacturing process. The item has been entered by an individual and not a tribal art dealer.

Lot 1161

A Victorian army officers dress sword, with part fullered engraved blade, with wire bound shark skin grip, with steel scabbard with suspension loops, the blade 83 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The blade is in good order and appears to be free from any large rust spots. There are small rust spots and dirt around the ricasso. The guard has lost its silver plating . The shark skin grip and wire bindings are in good order. The ricasso has a Star of David and to the centre it is struck proved. There is no makers marker. The scabbard is rusty and has lost the majority of its patination. It has two suspension loops which are intact. There is no historical provenance with this item.

Lot 210

A Chinese biscuit porcelain hexagonal vase, 19th century, the shoulder decorated with stiff leaves, the body with a relief moulded dragon amongst clouds and above waves, the sides with Buddhist symbols tied in ribbons all in a green, yellow and aubergine ground and with impressed Qianlong seal mark to the underside. Height 21 cm. CONDITION REPORT: There is a dark green band around the rim which is disguising restoration. On close inspection it would appear that the uppermost side panel rim has been restored which has overlapped onto the panel to the front and behind it. The remainder of the green banding looks to have been applied in order to make the item uniform. The remainder of the vase appears to be in good order throughout.

A Chinese porcelain figure of Hotei, 20th century, modelled seated with is sack of treasures with young boys clambering around him, relief moulded seal mark to underside for "Jiangxi, You Long Sheng, Jingdezheng". Height 25.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The head of the child seated top left when facing the Buddha has been broken off at the neck and professionally restored. Other than this the item appears to be free from any further chips, cracks or other restorations.

Lot 280

A graduated set of three Beswick flying mallard wall plaques, shape number 596-1 to 596-3, moulded and printed marks. CONDITION REPORT: All three are generally in very good condition with no major chips or restorations. There is a 2 cm very fine notable glaze crack to the rear of the large bird located at 12 o'clock on the circular hole. This crack is slightly more notable than the other fine glaze crazing but does not impede or impair the item. The medium size duck has a small white patch to the bottom tip of its beak however this is glazed and has left the factory in this condition. The small duck is in good condition with no faults.

A 19th century Staffordshire poodle, with painted face and gilt collar with padlock and with separate moulded front legs, initialled to the underside WM and NT. NOTE: It is unusual for an item such as this to bear initials, factory markings or artists initials. Height 27.5 cm

Lot 312

An early 19th century Staffordshire pottery cottage form money box, inscribed to the front "Savings Bank" and flanked by a male and female, with moulded flowers and trees to the sides and verso, with applied DM and P Manheim label to the underside. Height 12.8 cm, 12 cm wide. and a later 19th century Staffordshire town house money bank with applied floral decoration to the guttering and with two chimneys. Height 12.8 cm, width 9 cm. CONDITION REPORT: There is a tiny piece of restoration to the underside of the rim of the lady's bonnet directly in the centre. The green corner upon which the gentleman stands has been professionally restored. Upon close inspection it looks like only the outer corner has been restored and the item is still attached to the building. Other than that there appear to be no further restorations. There are no obvious chips or cracks visible. The town house money box has gilt rubbing to the ball finial on the right-hand side, the finial on the left is missing. The gilding to the base and the paintwork around the windows has been erased and rubbed but 50% of it still remains. There are no obvious chips or cracks. There are no signs of restoration.

A 19th century glass club shaped bottle, etched to commemorate a marriage, J & A Logan, Gallowgate 1851. Height 29 cm. CONDITION REPORT: There is a large fingernail size chip to the underside however this does not pierce the body. The item appears to be in good decorative order throughout with no chips, cracks or restorations visible.

Lot 382

A pair of Mocha imperial quart tankards, 19th century, and an imperial half pint Mocha tankard. Height 15 cm and 10 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The half pint pot has minor glaze flaking to either side of the handle. There is a very fine 5 cm long hairline crack from the interior by the handle. The item is free from any chips or restorations. One imperial quart pot has a 3.5 cm long Y shape hairline crack to the base which is not visible on the interior base, a 5 mm hairline firing crack to the base of the handle and a 1 cm x 3 mm slice missing from the foot. Otherwise the item has very minor glaze chips but appears to be sound. The second imperial pot has a small grazing to the handle, however this has been glazed over when firing, so a manufacturing flaw. There are minor scratches and surface rub marks to the high points along the base but generally in good order throughout with no obvious chips, cracks or signs of restoration.

Lot 514

A silver demi lune nib wipe, William Comyns and Sons, London 1913, having a pierced central strut with three apertures for pens upon the demi lune base. Height 11.5 cm, width 11.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Overall this is in good order. The pen apertures are slightly misshapen however these could be manipulated back to normal but not excessively so. The stem supporting the aperture is slightly misshapen but again nothing too significant. The item has not been engraved or personalised. The brush appears to be in good order. There are no signs of any splits, tears or restorations.

Lot 590

Gunnel Nyman for Nuutajarvi Notsjo, an amber glass trailed bubble vase, mid 20th century, the glass internally decorated with controlled bubbles, acid etched signature to the underside. Diameter 13 cm, height 10 cm. CONDITION REPORT: There is a tiny bruise by the rim. Although this in not instantly obvious. There are a couple of very minor surface scratches on the underside but nothing detrimental. Otherwise this item is in good condition throughout.

Lot 892

An Edwardian embroidered bedspread, the centre with a floral bouquet with crochet and embroidered borders, two ends with a lace overhang. Length 225 cm, width 217 cm. CONDITION REPORT: One corner along the blue ground has a 5 cm tear and on the same side the inner blue band has deteriorated in two sections but is still intact. The opposing blue panel has deteriorated in a small section but this looks as if it is by being folded and creased. Overall it is pretty much intact albeit it faded. The crochet work to both sides is good as is the crochet work throughout. Given the nature of this item there may be small anomalies we may have missed but there are no major flaws visible. The colours would most likely have been much more vibrant at one point.
