The case externally presents in good condition. All the glass is intact and free from any cracks or obvious sign of damage. Likewise the plinth and the woodwork all present well. A Tribesman's Decorative Musket, 43ins barrel, flintlock action, wood stock and fore end decorated with other inlaid woods and metal band work, exterior finished in varnish, 58ins overall The musket being of tribesman design is very crude in appearance, it appears to be complete and original. It has been heavily lacquered in the past to enhance (or not) the overall appearance. We cannot vouch the originality of all parts, however they appear to be in keeping with the weapon. It is not possible to accurately date these pieces as they are still in production today but we would think this one is probably early 20th Century, in our opinion only. The weapon will cock but does not hold or fire. It should be largely regarded as a decorative item and potential bidders are strongly advised to study all images carefully prior to bidding.
A George III Mahogany Tripod Supper Table, with eleven moulded circular insets to top, on leaf carved baluster turned central column and conforming triple cabriole legs with pointed toes, on castors, 31.5ins diameter x 28.75ins highGeneral light scattered scratching to the top and some darker staining. On the edge of the top there are some general edge knocks and slight rubbing. On the top right hand side there is a small diagonal crack around 1ins long and on the left hand side there are various signs of shrinkage to the circular insets on the edge, each around 0.25ins in diagonal sections. To the underside, the locking mechanism appears to be a replacement and the two batons have been refreshed and the plugs which cover the screws appear to be fairly modern. Generally heavier wear to the three legs commensurate with age and usage. Overall the item is structurally sound will little to no movement in the joints.

A rare and important 17th century tortoiseshell and ivory mounted folding fan and a related leather glove of royal interest, both reputedly given to Jane Lane as a gilt by King Charles II, the fan with two tortoiseshell guards and ivory sticks piqué inlaid with scrolling foliage, the vellum panel painted with a scene of the 'Rape of Europa' to one side and floral sprays to the other, length 27cm, within a card case, the fine cream leather glove embroidered in silk and metal threads with flowers and scrolls to the cuff, length 28cm. Note: by family repute the fan and glove were given by King Charles II, after the Restoration, to Jane Lane, in gratitude for helping to save his life after the battle of Worcester in 1651. Provenance: by family descent to the present owner. Exhibited in September 1946 at the City Museum and Art Gallery, Bristol.
