Important Moorcroft Collector`s Item. A one-off special edition vase painted by Paul Martin, presenter of BBC Flog It!, with the proceeds of sale going to Children in Need. This lot is a special commission and will feature a `Pudsey` variant of the `Cows` pattern with the use of carefully selected alternative colour palettes. It will remain a truly unique piece of Moorcroft to enhance any collection. The lot will be sold with a series of accompanying photographs of Paul decorating the piece, autograph and signature photograph of Paul and the vase designer. A late 19th Century reading stand with walnut book tray attached to brass and bronzed metal stand, the book tray bearing brass plate "A. Carter, Holbourn Viaduct, London". LITERATURE: See item in The Queen Magazine for December, 1874, where a similar lot is described as the Literary Machine patented for holding a book, writing desk and meals, etc., etc.
1945 February 19, Houses of Parliament illustrated bilingual commemorative lunch menu, the Afrikaans side signed by Field Marshal Smuts while serving his second term as Prime Minister. Good average condition. Scarce. (1) This menu conveniently fits a standard album page, making it a fine item of ephemera for a specialist stamp collector.

Perhaps John Clark (d. 1807) scholar of Scottish Gaelic literature and land agent (though the inscription makes a distinction as a surveyor) but Clark was certainly known as a writer of poetry and although most of his professional life was spent in Wales was a fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland..

A similar large size plate of the 17th Light Dragoons (Lancers) without battle honours; ex Spring Connoisseur Sale 1999, with copy of letter stating that the plate was acquired “in the Crimea in the Summer of 1998 from two young boys who confirmed the Lance Cap Plate had been excavated by them from the British Cavalry camp at Kadikoi, Balaclava”. An impressive 2.5" gauge live steam locomotive. Believed to be a ‘Fayette’ type LBSC design from the late 1940s and built to a set of drawings. A 4-6-2 locomotive coupled to an eight wheel rigid tender. Similar in appearance to a Gresley A3 Pacific, but equipped with Baker valve gear. Unnamed, RN 4472 and finished in lined green livery. Loco & tender approximately 3’5" in length. Significant detailing. A fine piece of engineering. Together with board mounted display track. VGC. Sold as a collector’s item only. Plate. 1

A set of Birmingham Mint silver ingots A limited edition boxed 25-item set, actually with 26, being a commemorative series Milestones of Manned Flight. Each c2" x 1" ingot depicts a famous event or craft such as the Wright Brothers first powered flight (1903), Lindbergh’s solo transatlantic flight (1927), Spitfire (1940), Harrier (1967) and Concorde (1976). The additional ingot appears to be of a De Havilland Comet racer, incorrectly dated 1952. Also some correspondence between buyer and makers. Mounted in a wooden display box with blue felt backing and a perspex cover, minor wear, contents GC, some scratching.
