A hand-crafted pottery lamp base made by a 15 year old Thomas Forrester for his GCSE Art in 1989, influenced by the Greek classical architecture of the Ionic columns. Sold without lamp fitting or bulb. Thomas says: “I was doing my GCSE Art and learning about the different types of classical columns - Doric, Ionic and Corinthian. The fluted columns and the scroll capitals where part of the Ionic Greek period, and they appealed to my sense of creative spirit. I enjoy the simplicity of this design, almost contemporary, and thus the 15 year old me came up with this design. Stepped base and Ionic style column with aperture on top for a lamp fitting.
