An Edwardian satinwood Sheraton Revival oval occasional table, painted with floral swags and ribbons raised on legs of square tapered section united by a raised shelf, width 52 cm. CONDITION REPORT: There is no missing veneer to the tabletop. There is a small section of +/- 2.5 cm in length missing from the crossbanded edge. The table is structurally sound. We can see no evidence of any repairs or restoration. The condition is generally good with just the usual minor scratches and marks that one would expect from an item of this age.
A 19th century Staffordshire hen on nest egg cruet, chick showing, green band to top of nest, red comb. Length 24 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The item is in generally good order with no repairs or restoration. The lid is in good condition with no issues other than rubbing to the silver gilding and minor losses to the paintwork. The base has some glaze nibbles along the top edge of the basket which are more nibbles and rubs than chips. These are minor. There are also some small areas of loss to the paintwork.
A 19th century Swiss rosewood musical box, with 32 cm comb and playing 8 airs. Length 57 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The movement winds and plays. The stop start mechanism is erratic. There are six tooth tips missing but all teeth are present. When playing the box sounds tuneful. The case is in generally good order with no significant issues only the usual marks and scuffs commensurate with the age of the item. All inlay is present and there is no lifting.
A Victorian coromandel dressing table box with silver mounted fittings, with London hallmarks for 1860, Silversmiths Pittway Bros. (John and William), with flush front jewellery drawer and side drawer. There is a mirror recessed into the lid with stationery compartment behind. Width 31 cm, depth 23 cm, height 19 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The box is in extremely good condition. The coromandel is well figured and the veneers are in good condition all round with no significant fractures and no losses. The top shuts flush. The hinges are in very good order with no damage surrounding. Both drawers spring open as they should. The lock is present but we have no key. It is however unlocked and the lock is not self-locking. All silver topped jars are present and none are inscribed. the large rectangular vessel is in good order with no issues. The smaller rectangular box has one very minor corner chip and several very minor almost insignificant edge nibbles. The two small cylindrical jars are both in good order with no chips. The centre scent bottle has a crack running from the top threaded section all down one side. There is no movement and no loss. The same jar has some very minor edge nibbles. The right hand flanking cylindrical jar is in good order with no issues. The left hand one has several small bottom edge nibbles and two under edge small chips. The left hand scent bottle is complete with stopper and has no issues. The right hand scent bottle also has the stopper. The threaded neck rim has an upper edge chip which is completely covered by the lid. The accessories seem to be original as they fit the apertures. The button hook is slightly too long and the right hand side compartment with the larger scissors has one item missing.

A mixed lot of 20th century ceramics to include a Crescent & Sons China dessert service including two tazzas, side plates etc, a Limoges gilt-heightened dressing table set, a pair of Woods prunus double gourd vases, two Waring & Gillow serving plates etc, also a cased set of cutlery. CONDITION REPORT The Limoges dressing table set has extensive rubbing to the gilt decoration, the Woods prunus vases both have losses to the top rims. As a general overview, there are signs of use throughout, there are too many pieces to inspect each item individually.

All glass either replacement or associated.

A carved schist frieze panel with flanking columns, groups of standing figures including three dancers in animated pose, nimbate boy (Siddharta?) with attendant behind holding a canopy, two robed attendants with turbans; mounted on a custom-made stand. Cf. Jongeward, D., Buddhist Art of Gandhara in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, 2018, item 32, for type. 9.3 kg total, 45cm wide including stand (17 3/4"). From the property of a London gentleman; formerly in a UK collection, acquired in the 1990s. Fine condition.
2nd-3rd century AD. A carved schist rectangular panel depicting Buddha standing wearing a simple draped robe, with aureole and ushnisha, flanked by an attendant and four kneeling figures with headdresses (the gods asking Buddha to preach to them), with rocky outcrop supporting a bearded shepherd and a prancing goat, two bodhisattva figures forming an arch above Buddha's head; column with palmette detail to the right edge; mounted on a custom-made stand. Cf. Jongeward, D., Buddhist Art of Gandhara in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, 2018, item 17, for similar scene. 7.6 kg total, 33.5cm including stand (13 1/4"). Property of an Oxfordshire art professional; previously in an old British collection formed in the 1980s-1990s. Fine condition.
23rd-20th century BC. A mixed group of five bronze seals, all accompanied by typed and signed notes by the late W.G. Lambert, Professor of Assyriology at the University of Birmingham, 1970-1993, which state:(T-682) 'Stamp Seal of Bronze, 56 x 56 x 18mm) This is round, with flat face and flat back, on which is mounted a handle of inverted V-shape. The design, which is both compartmented and open-work, consists of a central quadrate cross containing a circle set in a circle, with is the inside of a circular band divided into 14 roughly oblong compartments. This in turn is surrounded by a plain outer band. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. It has been cleaned and conserved, and save for the usual denting and slight damage to the outer rim, it is in very good condition.'; (T-244) 'Stamp Seal of Bronze, 64 x 63 x 20mm. This is round with flat face and flat back, on which a handle of inverted V-shape is mounted. The design consists of a compartmented and open-work rosette of eight petals, reaching from an inner circle to an outer plain band. The petals are marked on the back with notched edges. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. The metal has been conserved and is in good condition, and the piece generally is well preserved, only the outer rim being a little worn and damaged.'; (T-161) 'Stamp Seal of Bronze, 51 x 49 x 12mm. This has the shape of an eight-pointed star, with flat engraved face, and back shaped and decorated rising to a handle like twined cord. The decoration on the back makes the points each look like a leaf or similar thing. The design on the face shows as the main item a snake in zig-zag pose with other items around it: three trees(?), two things with shape of arrow-heads, a crescent, and an uncertain depiction. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. It is in very good condition and offers a very rare design.'; (D-50) 'Stamp Seal of Bronze, 52.5 x 52.5 x 2mm. This has the shape of an eight-pointed star. The flat face has eight small circles, at the bottom of each V-shape on the edge, and each point is hollowed out with drill holes, while the very centre is filled with a flower-like motif. the edges of the points are grooved, and the flat back is covered with depressions of various shapes, while the loop handle in the middle is covered oblong depressions. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c.2300-2000 B.C. It is in fine condition, and it is a rarity to have so much engraved on all sides.'; (R-213) 'Stamp Seal of Bronze, 45 x 45 x 16mm. This is square, with flat face and flat back, on which is mounted a loop handle of inverted V-shape. The design is compartmented, but not open-work. It consists of a simple cross creating four smaller squares, each of which is divided into three oblongs in such a way that the oblongs run in opposite directions in adjacent squares. this comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. It is a rare design in metal, and in very good state of preservation.' 266 grams, 53-64mm (2-2 1/2"). The Signo collection, the property of a West London businessman, formed in the late 1980s-early 1990s; collection numbers D-50, T-161, T-244, T-682, R-213 academically researched and catalogued by the late Professor Lambert in the early 1990s.
