A superb vintage Metamec mains powered wall clock with black face, white numerals and hands and framed in vibrant orange along with another vintage Metamec wall clock in great unused condition with applied stickers still intact. This item comes well packed in it's original branded box. Measures 19cm high x 19cm wide.
Royal Dux figure of a groom with two horses, together with a Royal Dux figural bowl (a.f.) Groom with horses - flea bite chips to one ear of one horse, item lacking from groom's hand, a couple of paint scratches. Bowl - girl's stick is broken, chips to duck's beaks, painted scratches overall etc.
Potter (Beatrix) The Tailor of Gloucester, first edition, first printing with date on title and single-page endpaper recurring 4 times, deluxe issue in rare trial binding, colour frontispiece and 27 colour plates, upper hinge cracked but holding firm, original red morocco, lettered in gilt on upper cover, upper joint cracked at foot, minor chipping to spine ends, spine a little rubbed, light wear to corners, still an excellent copy, g.e., [Not in Linder or Quinby], 16mo, 1903. ⁂ An excellent example of this scarce variant trial binding, we know of only one other copy (see Peter Harrington catalogue no.122, item 17, see also lot 7) Includes an additional colour plate before the frontispiece featuring the illustration used on the upper cover of the first trade edition (this plate was also used as the rarer of the two frontispieces for the art fabric edition).

An exceptional Chinese 19th century maple campaign secretaire chest in two sections with inlaid ebony lines, inset brass handles and borders of fluted ebony, brass carrying handles the secretaire drawer opens to a writing slope and has a fitted writing drawer, width 105cm, height 116cm including turned legs. (See illustration) Condition report: This item comes from an it estate, it has a 37 year old receipt from a local Militaria dealer.Depth 49cm.
A Japanese ivory okimono, a standing male street entertainer carrying a box on his chest with liquid and straws for blowing bubbles, at his side a young child whom he educates in the art of bubble blowing, their robes engraved with scattered wisteria and beehive patterns, on shaped base with signature Gyoku (?) in sosho. A 19th century Indian 18 bore percussion gun, 53” overall, barrel 38¾” with faint traces of proofs and tall brass rearsight at the breech, the Enfield lock stamped “1860/ Tower” and with traces of crowned “VR”, fullstocked with 5 thin steel barrel bands and Enfield brass trigger guard, the butt decorated with domed steel nails, tiger claws and percussion caps set in wax like substance, and with large rounded block covered with animal skin, with a simple iron ramrod. GWO & C (worn commensurate with much use). An untouched item, probably brought back from the Afghan War of 1878-80
A scarce Edwardian Penny Arcade machine. This example also produced in the early 1900’s is called ‘The Gypsy’ measures 60cm tall, 46cm wide. A circular portrait of a Gypsy surrounded by a dial showing the fortunes. This simple game requires a penny to spin the fortune tellers wheel which randomly points to your reading ‘A Proposal’, ‘A Lover’ ‘An offer of Marriage’ etc. GC for age. Legatura coeva in pergamena floscia, carte di guardia rinnovate, titolo manoscritto al dorso, taglio di piede goffrato. Al frontespizio nota di possesso in inchiostro bruno di difficile lettura, note manoscritte in greco di mano coeva ai fascicoli A-C della seconda parte. Bellissima edizione del testo greco e latino dell'Opera di Polibio, nella traduzione di Niccolò Perotto e Wolfgang Musculus.
