DIRTY HARRYStudio Produced Reprint One Sheet (27" x 41" ); 47/100 Autographed by Clint EastwoodVery Fine- Rolled Warner Bros., c.1988In the late 1980s, Warner. Bros. produced a catalog displaying products where employees and families could buy logo-emblazoned products. One item in the catalog was this exact reprint of the one sheet from the Eastwood classic signed by Clint Eastwood himself. One hundred were signed, and this is one of those copies. The poster comes with a sales certificate from the catalog. There is a small tear in the upper right edge, but it is otherwise in brilliant condition. Drawing from the real-life case of the Zodiac Killer, this gritty, cynical cop thriller from director Don Siegel gifted Clint Eastwood with a career-defining role as the eponymous rule-breaking detective and paved the way for a series of sequels that would extend well into the late '80s.This lot will be auctioned on Thursday, April 18th. JAMES BOND: THUNDERBALLAmerican Full-Bleed Multi-Use Four-Unit Display (30" x 40")Very Fine- on Linen; Artwork by Frank McCarthy and Robert McGinnis United Artists , 1965An unusual and uncommon item is a piece so scarce that this poster may be the only copy known. This unique American poster takes its cue from the advanced "quad crown" style British quad, closely resembling the quad in size, image, and purpose. The press book encourages theater owners to cut the poster into panels so that the images can be displayed separately or arranged vertically or horizontally. Though both the American and British posters share many of the same images, courtesy of longtime Bond artists Frank McCarthy and Robert McGinnis, the American poster provides a section for the film's title, credits, and even an imprint area for theater information. This poster has been professionally restored to address pinholes, small tears, and a tear from the left edge into the smoke from Bond's jetpack in the center-left. A few places at the edges and outer background have been airbrushed, rounding out the poster's restoration. The fourth Sean Connery Bond film pitted 007 against SPECTRE Number Two Emilio Largo (Adolfo Celi) and was initially intended to be the first. However, it was delayed due to a rights dispute over the novel, eventually resulting in 1983's rival Bond film Never Say Never Again. This lot will be auctioned on Thursday, April 18th. The auction will begin at 9:30am PST and lots are sold sequentially via live auctioneer; tune in to the live streaming broadcast on auction day to follow the pace. John Julius Angerstein (1735-93) was a London businessman, collector and patron of the arts. When he died his collection of thirty-eight pictures was bought for the nation (for approximately £60,000) and formed the basis of the National Gallery, founded in 1824 and first situated in Angerstein's house at 100 Pall Mall. It included Rubens' Rape of the Sabine Women, Claude's Embarkation of the Queen of Sheba, Rembrandt's Woman taken in Adultery, and Sebastiano del Piombo's Raising of Lazarus which Angerstein had bought from the celebrated Orléans Collection in 1798 for 3500 guineas and which became item No.1 in the National Gallery Catalogue. Angerstein's house soon became too small and the present gallery designed by William Wilkins was built between 1832 and 1838. Philip Miles was a railway magnate who bought Leigh Court near Bristol and filled it with a fine collection of Old Master paintings. It included the famous "Altieri Claudes", originally purchased by William Beckford in 1799 for the then astounding price of £6825 for the pair. The collection was dispersed at Christie's in 1884.

A pair of fine Chinese famille rose trembleuse stands or 'mancerina' for the Spanish or Mexican market, Qianlong L.: 22 cm - H.: 4 cmRef.: - Christie's, The Tibor Collection, New York, April 10, 2019, for a nearly identical pair. (sold USD 5.000) (link) The accompanying text states: The mancerina is closely associated with the Hispanic market and with the Spanish custom of chocolate drinking. Both chocolate and silver of course came from the Spanish New World, so it is fitting that this form was often made in silver as well as in Spanish maiolica. It is said that the 2nd Marque;s de Mancera, Viceroy of New Spain 1664-1673, had a palsied hand and thus needed the all-in-one cupstand, which took his name, though none survive from this early period. Interestingly, a very similar form exists in Chinese ceramics of the Song period, which may have influenced the development of the export examples. For a Mexican silver mancerina see H.R. Borrell et al, The Grandeur of Viceregal Mexico, p. 380. An almost identical single export mancerina is in the Museo Nacional de Historia, Mexico City, and illustrated by M. Priyadarshini, Chinese Porcelain in Colonial Mexico, p. 123. - Denver Art Museum, Accession Number 2017.143, for a similar yet less elaborate example. (link) The accompanying text by Jorge Rivas Perez states: This large Chinese famille rose mancerina decorated with flowers is a specialized item found in chocolate services. The mancerina is a deep, wide saucer, often in the shape of a seashell, with a cup holder in the centre to hold the jícara (chocolate cup) in place and prevent it from tipping over. It was invented in Mexico in the mid-1600s and named after Don Antonio Sebastian alvarez de Toledo Molina y Salazar, 2nd Marquis of Mancera, and Grandee of Spain (c. 1608 - 1715), a Spanish nobleman who was Viceroy of New Spain (Mexico) from 1664 to 1673. Mancerinas became very fashionable across the Spanish empire during the colonial period and were manufactured in both silver and ceramic. In the 18th C., thanks to the trade with Asia via the Manila Galleon, porcelain mancerinas were also produced in China for the Mexican market. This example, a Qianlong period (1736-1795) famille rose mancerina decorated with flowers from circa 1760-70, is representative type of the Asian export wares for the Spanish market.
