The two front parts of the seat itself which is hinged may have been replaced some years ago. There is scratches and scuffing on the whole commensurate with age, it looks fairly low and would have stood a little higher originally. The back panelling looks fairly good from the rear view and the side panelling looks reasonable. The back legs are a little shorter than they should be. There is two pieces of 2” wood slips away from the back left hand side of the seat. This may have been made up if so has been done a long time ago. The hinges on the seat compartment look reasonable and have been there a long time. Opening up the two lidded compartments at the front it is apparent that the base has completely gone and has been replaced with stained pine tongue and groove. The piece is probably more for show and looks than pure original antique value.
