UNKNOWN 19TH CENTURY oil on panel - portrait of Mr John Roberts b. 1816, Royal Welsh Harpist, Newtown, 46 x 36cmsAuctioneer's Note: Roberts was a Romani Gypsy harpist, born in 1816. He was famed as the country’s leading performer on the Welsh triple harp, an instrument popular with Welsh musicians in the 17th and 18th centuries. He was given the title Telynor Cymru or Harpist of Wales by Gwilym Cowlyd during the bardic festival held by Glan Geirionnydd in 1886. During his time living on Frolic Street, John Roberts fathered 9 children with his wife Eleanor, including two sets of twins. They nearly all grew up to be musicians and performed with their father as the Original Cambrian Minstrels and were in demand as performers all over Wales, winning countless Eisteddfod prizes and gold medals.Provenance: deceased estate DenbighshireComments: unframed

A French Empire ormolu mantel Clock, incorporating musical mechanism to plinth, circa 1820, the silvered dial with Roman numerals and calendar signed 'Alibert A Paris' , mounted in gilt metal case decorated with globe, scholar and other attributes of astronomy, the movement signed 'T. Moss, London', for Thomas Moss of Ludgate Street London and numbered '2818', housed in glass dome, raised on burr walnut plinth with a Swiss made musical mechanism playing on a choice of two airs, numbered '14262', the exterior with pull-wind cord to right hand side and a mother of pearl panel incorporating levers annotated Changer and Jouer, and with signature Alibert a Paris, raised on four squashed bun feet, W 25 cm x H 38 cm x D 13.5 cm.

A large Georgian-style dolls house on stand - late 20th century, the house with eight windows and three dormers in the tiled roof, the front with a fold-down front with shallow front garden and central path leading to steps up to a portico porch and black painted six panel front door, the two-part hinged front opening to reveal two rooms and a central hallway/landing with staircase to each of the three floors, with wood veneered floorboards and a tiled floor to the hall, each room with a fireplace, wallpaper, pictures and light fittings, the roof hinged to reveal two servants' rooms to the attic, the basement with three further kitchen / cellar rooms, with six bisque head doll's house dolls and a small amount of furniture and accessories, the right side of the house with a lean-to glasshouse with an arched entrance to a carriage / car port beneath, the main house LWH 93 x 43 x 124cm, overall size including the beechwood stand 122 x 70 x 168cm, requires some restoration and the electrics untested.
A three-seater beech and walnut bergère-style settee, 1920s-30s - the three-panel caned back with stylised foliate crestings, over caned arms and loose seat and back cushions, raised on cabriole front legs. (LWH 167 x 77 x 77cm)* Condition: Overall in good condition, with a solid frame and good (if very dated) upholstery. The caning is good overall, with just a few very minor losses to the left hand arm caning – the panel is sound though. The frame has some scuffing and scratches to the polish to the front arm supports and to the frame around the back. Expected marks and scuffs to the feet.
A small collection of vintage drinking glasses - including a lemonade set, 1960s-70s, comprising a jug and six glasses, all with engraved fern leaf decoration, the jug 20.6cm high; a cut glass mallet decanter, with panel cut decoration, 34.7cm high; a pair of Edinburgh Crystal tumblers; three pairs of hi-ball glasses, champagne flutes and wine glasses in a similar design; and a small water jug.
