Lot 108

A late 19c Black Forest wall clock with wooden framed 30 hour movement with steel arbors and brass wheels countwheel striking on a gong. It is contained in a rectangular case with glazed front covering a reverse painted dial with a rural scene above the white dial which has Roman numerals. The dial has a broad water-gilt surround and the base of the case has a vette eglomise panel below the dial. The case top is surmounted by a castellated frieze and the clock has brass chains, two sacking-covered weights and a brass pendulum, the clock 18 tall overall.

Scottish Ceremonial Dirk, with carved lattice work wooden grip having brass top fitting and thistle decorated brass lower chape. Pommel top has cut glass stone. Scabbard of black leather with brass thistle decorated fittings, marked to the reverse A S N FIFE FORFAR. Knife and forks to the centre of the scabbard, both with cut glass top pommels. Top scabbard fitting has cross of St Andrew with crude white metal 42 underneath. Polished blade with etched panel to the top section. Blade measures 32cm in length. Good overall condition.

19th Century Berlin porcelain cabinet cup and saucer, the cup having a reserve panel decorated with a sleeping child in a crib and script 'Victoria S', on a pale green ground, the interior heavily gilded, the saucer with conforming pale green and gilt decoration, underglaze blue marks, the cup 9cm high Condition: Some wear to the gilding and the green is slightly washed-out particularly on the saucer, the underside of the saucer has small rim flake approximately 5mm x 4mm, the underside of the cup has a small chip to the inside of the foot rim but this looks like it is a manufacturing fault and measures approximately 8mm x 4mm - **General condition consistent with age

The John Wood Drawing Set - A fine set of 18th Century drawing instruments, the silver and fish skin case bearing the script 'John Wood, Architect' together with the Coat of Arms of this famous son of Bath. Dating from around 1745 the set comprises: white metal scale rule, white metal mounted ivory sector rule, compass, dividers, bow, two pens and a pencil, the two rules bearing the name of the maker Thomas Heath of London, there is one vacant aperture which would suggest that there is one piece missing, 13cm high John Wood Senior was born in Bath in 1704. His first important projects were the North and South Parades in 1728, followed by Queen Square, Prior Park (1735-48) and the Royal Mineral Water Hospital in 1738. Of course the developments for which he will forever be remembered are The Circus, completed in 1764 after his death by his son John Wood The Younger and The Royal Crescent 1767-76, executed by the younger Wood from his father's designs. His major works outside Bath were both the Bristol and Liverpool Exchanges. He died in his home city in May 1754 Condition: The hinge has snapped and so the lid is not connected to the main case, there is one empty aperture where there may have been an instrument/ink phial, the crest panel has a few shallow knocks and the panel is lifting slightly, see images - **General condition consistent with age
