Conrad (Joseph) The Rescue, first generally published English edition, signed presentation inscription from the author "Dr. & Mrs.Whitehead Reid with the greatest regard from Jospeh Conrad Dec. 1920" to endpaper, light toning to endpapers, neat book label of Stanley J. Seeger to front pastedown, original green smooth cloth lettered in gilt on spine with upper cover in blind (Cagle's "a" binding), slight shelf-lean, extremities a little rubbed, dust-jacket, light toning, spine ends and corners a little chipped, light creasing to head, short tear to upper panel with neat tape repair to verso, [Cagle A49b(2)], 8vo, J. M. Dent, 1920.⁂ Douglas Whitehead Reid (1883-1930) senior surgeon at the Kent and Canterbury Hospital. During the early 1920s he attended to Jessie Conrad's problems with her leg, a subject that regularly features in Conrad's correspondence at the time.
Dahl (Roald) Boy, first edition, signed presentation inscription from the author to half-title, illustrations, pictorial endpapers, original boards, light bumping to foot of spine, dust-jacket, very light toning, light creasing to spine tips and corners, light surface crease to upper panel, near-fine generally, 8vo, 1984.⁂ The first volume of Dahl's autobiography, covering his early childhood up until his leaving school to take up a position at Shell in 1934. Scarce signed.
Hemingway (Ernest) Men Without Women, first English edition, browning to endpapers, original cloth, light sunning to spine, light soiling to lower cover, dust-jacket, spine browned and a little sunned, spine ends and corners a little chipped, extremities rubbed, some light surface abrasion to lower panel, but overall a very good example of a scarce jacket, 8vo, 1928⁂ Hemingway's second short story collection, including "The Killers", one of his most celebrated, adapted numerous times for the screen.
Rowling (J.K.) Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, first edition, signed by the author on dedication p., original pictorial boards, dust-jacket, signed by jacket artist Giles Greenfield on upper panel, some very light creasing to head and foot, else fine, 8vo, 2000.⁂ The fourth title in the series, scarce signed by both the author and jacket artist.

Mountaineering.- Hunt (Sir John) The Ascent of Everest, first edition, signed by the author, Edmund Hillary, Tenzing Norgay, George Lowe, George Band, Tom Bourdillon, Michael Westamcott and Michael Ward on title, colour frontispiece, photographic plates, two plates loose, ticket for the 1963 "Challenge of Everest" event loosely inserted, bookplate to front pastedown, original cloth, spine sunned, light fading to covers, corners a little bumped, dust-jacket, light toning to spine, minor chipping to spine tips and corners, short closed tear to head of upper joint, chip to head of lower panel, light creasing to head and foot, 8vo, 1953.⁂ Rare signed by so many members of the team, especially Tenzing Norgay.
The Fighting Temeraire.- Harvey (Sir Eliab, naval officer and politician, captain of the Temeraire, 1758-1830) 2 Autograph postscripts signed to two Autograph Letters from his wife Louisa to her daughter Louisa Lloyd of Aston Hall, together 9pp. and address panels signed by Eliab Harvey, Liphook [Hampshire] & Rickmans Hotel [London], [3rd & 9th December 1805], written after the Battle of Trafalgar, "two letters dated Portsmouth from yr Father in which he says that Temeraire, R[oyal] Sovereign, Tonant [Tonnant], Collophus and Leviathan had been only 13 days from the Old Rock of Gibraltar... Portsmouth... yr Father... looking quite well as happy as he ought to be after such a victory he has been gone to the Hospital two hours with his Surgeon... I promise them a piece of Temeraire - the Fougeux had 500 men killd by Temeraire and the Redoubtable I believe 300 - one of the French Captain is a great strapping man with emence earrings... the Temeraire at Gibraltar was named the Pride of England and Terror of France... the Victory is just anchord at Spithead", folds, torn where opened, first letter address panel loose; and c. 20 others, letters to Louisa Lloyd of Aston Hall, Shropshire and Viscount Milton at Peterborough, also an invitation to a Ball at Buckingham Palace, v.s., v.d. Law.- [Phayer (Thomas)] A Booke of Presidents exactly written in maner of a Register, newlye corrected..., lacking final preliminary blank before A1 (¥4)?, initial ff. washed and silked, several with minor marginal defects, some with paper restoration (including title), not affecting text, light mainly marginal soiling, a few ff. with light marginal damp-staining, modern calf with panel imitation, spine sunned, [STC 3343], 8vo, Richard Tottel, 1584.⁂ Rare at auction; we can trace no copy in recent decades. Provenance: George Pugh (ink ownership inscription to final leaf verso, dated 1792). Previous ink ownership inscriptions to title and subsequent leaf, washed and no longer conclusively legible.

A CHINESE CINNABAR LACQUER PANEL, 19TH CENTURY. Well carved in relief with scholar figures in a landscape scene. 25.5cm x 19cm x 1cm.Good overall condition with no major damages or signs of repair. Expected surface wear with age. Small loss to edge of left slider when it would have sat possibly in a wooden stand.
An unusual shaped delft bowl decorated in blue and manganese with floral swags and pendants above a painted reeded panel circa1780, height 14cm.There is a 6cm hairline on the rim and two further hairlines, two chips on the foot rim, with some rim fritting and scratches, please see the extra images online.
LEACH POTTERY INTEREST:Edgar SKINNER (1850-1925)Figure in a landscapeWatercolourSigned24cm x 34cm Edgar Skinner was a Cornish artist who helped Bernard Leach start his pottery in St. Ives and was known as his secretary, helping and managing the finances when Leach was in its infancy. A tile panel on his grave at Barnoon Cemetery by Bernard Leach read "He went through life with outstretched hand of help."
A Victorian mahogany campaign secretaire chest, in two parts, with a central drop-front drawer with a fitted interior and flanked by two small drawers with two short and two long drawers below, with recessed brass furniture and side carrying handles, height 105cm, width 105.5cm, depth 49cm.Wear consummate with age, cracks to the top and right hand side of the bottom section, lock missing from right hand side second row drawer with a drilled hole behind the handle plate, all the remaining locks are original, All drawers operate smoothly and all joints are stable and robust on the two sections of the furniture. Repair to the back top section, no evidence of worm. The top tier two side drawer linings are camphor and oak, there is only one oak panel on each drawer which is on the inner lining, all the other drawers are camphor linings. A late 19th early 20th century rococo style giltwood mirror carved with foliate scroll, 87cm x 51cm.The top pediment has been repaired/glued, there are also small losses to the edges of three foliate scrolls and an old repair. A Victorian mahogany sea Captains sideboard or chest, the removable upper part fitted two drawers, the lower part fitted two pairs of panel doors, one pair enclosing five baise lined drawers, with countersunk handles, the separate base stamped 'Captain's Cabin', height 92cm, width 179cm, depth 60cm.
An oak bookcase, early 20th century, in the Arts and Crafts taste, with arched top and leaded glazed doors enclosing adjustable shelves, with two panel doors below, on bracket feet, height 214cm, width 111cm, depth 34cm.Joints are solid with no movement, general wear consummate with age, in need of a clean, associated shelf and lacking the key. The bookcase is all in one piece.

A late 19th century circular stained glass panel depicting a Cornish engine house, diameter 20cm.This large collection of extremely rare Cornish tin ingots and mining artefacts are from the collection of Neil Mercer. Mercer has collaborated with the photographer and designer Peter Russell to produce ‘The Spirit Of Dartmoor Tin’, a large format, lavishly illustrated, limited edition artists publication due late 2022 / early 2023. Most of these items are featured in, and formed part of the research for the publication which contributes to, and records, the tin working history of Cornwall and Dartmoor and is the culmination of fourteen years of research and practical tin working. A Victorian silver vesta case with decorative floral and scroll detail shown in relief. Hinged lid, stamped 'sterling' to inner rim and with striking panel to underside. Monogrammed 'RJH' for Robert John Hall, from Booton, Norfolk, who was Lance Corporal in 2nd Norfolk Regiment, British Army and died in service aged 31 in December 1915. Approx. 7cm x 4cm and weighs approx. 17.2g.
