Mid-20th century (of that period) coffee table with 18th-century Chinese gilt lacquer panel set within gilt-brass frame styled as bamboo with x-shaped stretcher intersecting in a ring. The exquisite gilded bronze mount frame is of the highest casting quality. Such exceptional condition of the panel is extremely rare. Condylis Collection  Dimensions:18 in (H) x 43 in (W) x 19 in (D) The world-famous Parisian company Maison Baguès has created lighting and furniture works famous all over the world and is now recognized as synonymous with elegance and refinement. Baguès was born in Auvergne around 1840 and specialized in bronze works. Lot 63

Red lacquer panel with gilt chinoiserie landscape containing pagodas, fauna and flora. Maison Bagues or Maison Jansen. Mid-20th century (of that period) coffee table with 18th-century Chinese gilt lacquer panel set within gilt-brass frame styled as bamboo with x-shaped stretcher intersecting in a ring. The exquisite gilded bronze mount frame is of the highest casting quality. Such exceptional condition of the panel is extremely rare. Condylis Collection  Dimensions:18 in (H) x 43 in (W) x 19 in (D) The world-famous Parisian company Maison Baguès has created lighting and furniture works famous all over the world and is now recognized as synonymous with elegance and refinement. Baguès was born in Auvergne around 1840 and specialized in bronze works. Lot 99

A 15th century Nottingham alabaster panel sculpture. On burgundy velvet stand. Traces of original polychrome (e.g. pupils of eyes). Alabaster was quarried near Derby, west of Nottingham, from the Middle Ages onwards. Initially it was used in tomb carving it was later used for figures and reliefs illustrating the Life of Christ and the Saints. It was easy to carve as well as to paint with vivid medieval paints which in many instances remain. By the fifteenth century an international trade for such reliefs was in existence with examples reaching as far north as Iceland and as far south as Spain and the Mediterranean. Although these reliefs were carved in a number of places, it was Nottingham that emerged as the major centre for production. Condylis Collection  Comparative literature:F. Property of a Gentleman.  View of Dover Harbour from Dover Castle. Thomas Whitcombe (1763 - 1824). Oil on cradled panel. In gilded frame. A beautiful and rare topographical work by Thomas Whitcomb, one of the great painters of the Golden Age of British marine painting. Whitcombe was born in London and regularly exhibited works at the Royal Academy between 1783 and 1824. Some his best know works were the 50 paintings he produced entitled the "The Naval Achievements of Great Britain" of which many engravings were produced and sold. Property of a Gentleman. A pair of 18th century Marine Scenes. By Dominic Serres R.A. (1722 - 1793). Signed and dated "D Serres 1760". Oil on panel.  Dominic Serres was born in Germany and was originally apprenticed to one of Frances best known painters, Claude-Joseph Vernet (1714-1789). He came to England as a prisoner of war in 1752, having been captured at sea. During his captivity he took up painting and his early works were so successful that he was retained by George II as the official naval artist to the Crown from 1780. Throughout his career he painted a series of interesting historical events including the capture of Havana in 1762 and also the American Revolutionary War.  Dimensions: (Framed) 13.75 in (H) x 18.5 in (W) (Panel) 10 in (H) x 14.5 in (W)
