A Charles James black wool and terracotta tweed jacket, circa 1958, un-labelled, cut in the round, the back formed from a single panel, the curving front tweed panels fastened by hook and eye, short squat sleeves, lined in black taffeta. Provenance: Marit Guinness: Charles James was a life-long family friend of the Guinness family. He made many of Marit`s clothes including her wedding gown and most of her trousseau in 1937. This jacket was the last thing he made for her. In 1992 Marit auctioned some of her Charles James collection at Christies but retained this treasured jacket until her death.

Attributed to Steven Van der Meulen (active 1543-1568) Portrait of Robert Dudley Earl of Leicester Three quarter length standing wearing the Order of the Garter Oil on panel 114 x 86cm; 45 x 34in Sir Roy Strong suggested the attribution to Steven Van der Meulen for this portrait of Robert Dudley when he saw the picture at the request of Basil Telford Sharp 20-30 years ago. Van der Meulen moved to London from Antwerp in 1560 and took English nationality in 1562.
