* JACK BUTLER YEATS RHA (IRISH 1871 -1957), CLIFDEN, CONNEMARA oil on panel, signed 23.1cm x 36.2cm (9 1/8 x 14¼ inches) Framed Provenance: With Victor Waddington Galleries, Dublin, 1942. Acquired Christie's, London The Irish Sale 17th May 2001 lot 51 for £35,250 (premium) Note: The present work was painted from the first floor window of what was then the Railyway Hotel and is now Foyles Clifden Bay Hotel. It looks towards E.J. Kings pub which is still there today. The view has altered very little. Lady Gregory used to spend holidays in Clifden staying at Rock Glen House and Streamstown House. 19th Century Sevres, Louis Philippe cabinet cup and saucer, the cup with rectangular panel decorated with gilt crowned initials within a half laurel wreath and flanked by Putti, against a cobalt blue gilt decorated ground, the saucer similarly decorated, Chateau des Tuileries stamp, dated 1846.
Pair of Aynsley plates and a shaped rectangular bowl decorated with loch scenes: Loch Monteath, Loch Vennacher and Loch Lomond; with gilt embellished royal blue borders, bowl 26.5cm and plates 21.5cm diameter. (3) Condition Report Loch Vennachar: Generally in good condition. All colouring in bright. A few rubbed patches in the gilding an on outer rim of central panel. Loch Lomond: Same as above. However there are also a few very small 'scratches' to the central scene of Loch Lomond. Loch Monteath: Heavier gilding rubbing to outer than the other two dishes, but it is still generally in good condition and the colours are bright. The central panel has, again, a few small 'scratches'/losses and also a few very minor marks but no serious problems with any of the three plates.
19th century French ormolu and porcelain casket set with Sèvres style honey gilded panels of cherubs, birds and flowers, cast with roses, scrolls, laurel and ivy, on lily pad feet, unmarked, red velvet interior, 18cm high, 42cm wide and 25cm deep. Condition Report Feet stamped GP. Hinges strained. Porcelain panels in good condition, except one side floral panel which has a hairline crack. Original key and lining.
Victorian serpentine walnut credenza with two arched panel doors flanked by open shelves, on plinth base, 92cm high and 175cm wide. Condition Report Faded edge to the front of the serpentine top. Top is very warped so the drawer doesn't fit. Loss of veneer to the base. Chip to the top of the plinth base, damage to the corner. Replacement arched door panels. One of the mouldings has been detached and re-glued. Has signs of wear and tear.
