17th Century Welsh tridarn, the canopy top with a panelled back above two carved panelled doors, flanking a central carved panel, flanked by baluster turned uprights, the base with two further four panel doors, with iron hinges, raised on low bun feet (some alterations and repairs), 81.5ins x 66ins
Attributed to Peter Waals (Cotswold school), cherry wood, black walnut and ebonised two door wardrobe, the moulded cornice above a pair of fielded panel doors enclosing shelves and hanging space, 74ins x 46ins x 24ins Provenance: The wardrobe was ordered by the vendor's grandfather, Arthur Mitchell (then Chairman of Mitchells & Butlers Brewery). He was an important patron of Waals and the Barnsley brothers of the Cotswold School of Arts and Crafts founded by Ernest GimsonScuffs and marks from use but could use a good clean and re-polish would bring back up to good condition. Inside needs a little tidying, shelves all fit but bottom shelf has split into along grain. Did not have any drawers, even bottom section
17th Century oak coffer, the hinged moulded plank lid above a carved three panel front with additional stained decoration, raised on stile supports, 47ins wideOn hinge is broken and is loose, no split to top but one of the carved front panels has a split otherwise generally in good condition
