Opened in 1904 by the Great City & Northern Rlwy, Essex Road was part of the Underground from 1933-1975 when it was transferred to British Rail. Today is it operated by Great Northern. Measures 43" x 9" (109cm x 23cm). An excellent example with just very minor blemishes. [1]

It is painted by Adam Sijbel, generally seen as one of the leading, if not the very best pottery painter of his time in Friesland. He worked at the Kingma workshop in Makkum, a city still famous today for its production of Dutch Delft pottery.The scene depicted combines two biblical stories, namely Luke 10:31 and Luke 10:33.
