An Edwardian painted satinwood bureau bookcase, the broken swan neck pediment above twin glazed door, hinged fall enclosing a painted fitted interior, above four long graduated drawers raised on splayed bracket feet, painted throughout with garlands of flowers, baskets and ribbon tied decoration to the front and sides, width 79cm. CONDITION REPORT: Minor losses to veneer, scuffs to shut panel at base of upper door (see additional images), otherwise appears good with no further obvious signs of faults, damage or restoration.

WW2 German Vehicle Recognition Swastika “War Booty” Flag. A single sided cotton example with printed white circle and swastika panel stitched to the centre. To each corner a brass ring. The central pannel with a number of ink signatures, this believed to be British soldiers. GC clean condition. Size 36 x 72 inches
WWI “Tommy’s” Trench Draughts set. An attractive “board” being a linen handkerchief printed with chequered centre, outer border depicting draughts, inner border with scenes of sailors and soldiers in trenches playing the game. A panel in the border declares “The favourite game of our soldiers in the trenches and our sailors on the sea.”. Complete with 15 white and 15 black original paper pieces. Generally VGC.
WW1 1918 RFC / RAF Cowl Pattern Flying Helmet a good example of the light brown chrome leather balaclava multi panel helmet. Side ear flaps with front rolls. Forehead tightening straps and steel buckles. Leather and cord tightening chin strap. Interior with chamois crown and lower section. Bearing ‘WD’ issue stamp and ink name ‘B I Winmill’. Central fur section with some damage and fur loss. Leather remains supple. Minor stitching faults.
WW2 RAF Aircrew Issue Irvin Flying Jacket. A very good mid war example, with four panel back. Complete with original working master and sleeve zips. Waistbelt and elasticised collar strap present. Leather remains a very good colour and supple. Small rip to elbows of both sleeves, otherwise VGC Clean condition.
Mid 19th Century Highland Regiment Field Officer’s Sword by Wilkinson of London. A rare example made by Wilkinson Sword in 1858 (8802). The straight 36 inch plain blade is with half length double fuller. The forte with the cutler’s details and the blade etched with the gothic initials “G.Y.”. The hilt with shagreen grip with twist wire binding, this enclosed by a steel guard similar to the 1857 Royal Engineer pattern, with solid plain panel. Complete with black leather and steel mounted grip. Overall GC some age patina, crude repair to the leather scabbard at the chape.
4th Light Dragoons 1857 Wilkinson Sword patent solid hilt Light Cavalry Pattern sword. A very good and rare early example, attributed to Lieutenant The Honourable Everard Stourton. The slightly curved single edged blade, number 8118 (1857). with spear point, large central fuller, etched floral panels and Crowned VR Cypher. To the forte maker's panel for Henry Wilkinson London. Also etched with “Patent Solid Hilt”. The hilt with three bar open guard of standard regulation pattern. The backstrap with chequered pommel and part backstrap. The grip of slab sided, chequered with wire binding. Complete with original scabbard. Blade in very good condition, slight wear to the scabbard and hilt. Provenance From the Sale of the The Property of Lord Mowbray and Stourton & The Honourable James Stourton 29th November 2012. Lieutenant The Honourable Everard Stourton was appointed a Cornet in the 4th King’s Royal Irish Regiment of Light Dragoons on the 29th February 1856 and Lieutenant 1857
Tekke Turkmen ensi, Turkmenistan, second half 19th century, 5ft. x 3ft. 5in. 1.52m. x 1.04m. Overall wear, heavy in places; repairs; hole to right side with conservation patch verso; losses to lower end; damage to selvedges. Well drawn gapyrga (tree) motifs in the main border and upper panel of the lower elem. A once beautiful ensi of superb colour; finely woven with a soft handle.
Attractive Verneh cover, south Caucasus, 20th century, 6ft. 2in. x 4ft. 6in. 1.88m. x 1.37m. Slight wear in places; small repairs. The panelled design of this verneh is the most frequently encountered with a central red rectangular panel framed by a light blue border and red outer border, panelled and enclosed within narrow ivory crab-rosette guards. Our piece has the winged birds and animal figures accompanied by a variety of small birds. A wide band of flowering, winged plant motifs is at each end with the plain blue kelim end turned under. This group is discussed at length in Bennett, I. op. cit. pp.364-365 and pl. 480 is very similar to our piece. A very similar piece was offered by Christie’s, King Street, London, 29th April 2004, Lot no. 12.
Silk ikat coat, Syria, late 19th century, raspberry pink with ivory ‘bar’ design, the main back panel with a narrow yellow, ivory and pink striped and to hem and repeated on the front facing opposite the toggle fastening; long sleeves with ‘open’ cuffs lined with floral printed and plain blue cotton. Hole to lining of right cuff; holes to lining of coat in places.
Palestinian silk embroidered robe, heavy white cotton ground, with exquisitely embroidered floral details; mid-20th century. Note the design of the embroidered panel at the hem on the back of the robe is almost identical to that illustrated in Weir, S. And Shahid, S. Palestinian Embroidery, pp. 16-17, but the top band of our robe features pairs of birds at the base of jardinieres with garden urns of flowers above, each with a bird perched on the top. The front bodice is embroidered with a panel of flowerheads which continue along the neck edges. Unlined, except for the neck edge and the cuffs.
