St. Martin's Black Velvetine jacket with black and white quilted panel introduced into a panel at the back of each side edged in leather, the cuffs are padded quilting, the jacket has a grey tweed tie and fur collar. The lining has a sunburst design in red satin and a large floral medallion type badges and a hood decorated in fur. Collection of five Victorian Valentines, 1840s-1870s, comprising: 1) 'Faithful to thee', Windsor paper lace depicting lady and gentleman beneath an arch with flowers and swan, envelope addressed to Miss Marshall, High Street, Grantham, stamped. 2) 'Forever thine', unusual heart-shaped Valentine with paper lace border and central flowers in silk and velvet, collector's notes stating, 'produced by T. H. Burke of Newgate about 1840'. 3) 'Ever thine', Mansell, elaborate gilt paper lace with central chromolithographic design depicting cupid firing arrow. 4) 'Remember me', "sachet" (sometimes scented sachets were sent instead of cards), folding with three panels, central panel with silk design, (possibly Stevens of Coventry). 5) Elaborate silvered paper lace with artificial flowers and figures, possibly by Jonathan King (5)
