*Newcome (William, 1729-1800, Bishop of Dromore). Autograph letter signed 'W. Dromore', at Dean Dickson's Seapatrick near Loughbrickland, 30 July [1766], to his brother in London, concerning repairs of his house 'at 600expense by the advice of three country masons and as many carpenters... ', and that another contractor had then told him 'that the main walls were so decayed as to make it very unsafe to set about any repairs, and that if the roof which is now old was tampered with he was very apprehensive that the house would fall', and he must either repair the old house as well as he can or build a new one and that he has taken the last resolution as the most honest giving further details and information on the project, 3 pages plus integral address panel with remains of wax seal and 'L-Land' postmark, 4to It has not been established that Newcome built a new palace at Dromore to replace the old building of Magheralin, County Armagh.
