Moore, London c 1775, 13½” overall, barrel 8” with worn London proofs and traces of teardrop panel engraved “London”, the signed rounded lock and swan neck cock having dog tooth borders, the walnut fullstock with shell covering around barrel tang and brass mounts including trigger guard with acanthus finial, long spurred butt cap with grotesque mask finial, escutcheon with shell and mask, and voided sideplate with trophy of arms. GWO & basically GC (barrel pitted and worn, much of the fore end badly replaced). Plate 13
A Bavarian infantry officer’s sword (1825-48), slightly curved, pipe backed blade 32”, with traces of etching, ornamental brass hilt, turn down quillon, inverted “sunburst” langets, guard incorporating small scroll, forward angled lion’s head pommel, no backstrap, darkwood grip fluted on the inner side and diced on the outer, which incorporates lozenge panel embossed with the cypher of Ludwig I (1825-48), in its steel scabbard with brass mounts and 2 rings.
