Original 1938 London Transport PANEL POSTER 'Rotal Academy Exhibition' by Hans Feibusch (1898-1998), artist & sculptor who also did posters for Shell as well as murals for the Church of England. These posters were pasted onto the glass vestibules of Underground cars from the 1930s until the 1970s. Size 12.5" x 10" (32cm x 26cm). A vertical crease and very light edge-wear but generally in good condition. [1]
Original 1930 'General' (London Underground) double royal POSTER by Howard Elcock who designed posters for the Underground Group from 1928-31 as well as for Shell and the LNER. The poster has a blank panel for bus excursions and depicts NS-type open-top buses on various trips to the country, starting at the Underground station in the morning and returning to the bus garage at the end of the day. Some tears repaired on reverse, edge-scuffs but very reasonable overall. [1]
Original 1938 London Transport PANEL POSTER 'European Swimming Championships, Empire Pool, Wembley' by an unknown artist. These posters were pasted onto the glass vestibules of Underground cars from the 1930s until the 1970s. Size 12.5" x 10" (32cm x 26cm). Some light creasing and edge-wear but generally in good condition. [1]
1923 London Underground MAP of the Electric Railways of London "What to see and how to travel". Designed by MacDonald Gill with his distinctive style of calligraphy and map border, this is the issue dated 1/11/23 which shows the British Empire Exhibition stations with red dots. In used condition with wear at one panel-fold and some small partings at the edges but still a good copy overall. [1]
London Underground 1950s/60s enamel FRIEZE PANEL from the platforms at Holland Park station on the Central Line together with matching 'bullseye' FRIEZE PLATE, forming an integral, closed-ends set. Combined length 69" (177cm). Chips around some screw-holes but otherwise in very good condition. [2]
A Pullman wooden CARRIAGE PANEL bearing the company's crest (coat of arms). Measuring 24" x 14" (61cm x 36cm), the style of panel - vertical wooden slats - suggests this originated on an early, wooden-bodied Pullman carriage from the late 19th century/early 20th century. Inscribed on reverse "[illegible] 1908" and "Preston Park Woodshop 1930" so possibly taken from a carriage scrapped in 1930. A small surface loss at r/h side, otherwise good. [1]
