A rare and unusual late 17th Century French Ebony and Brass inlaid Mantel Clock, Marguerite A, Paris, (Dictionnaire des Horlogers Francais Second Part by Tardi Page 433), the spreading baluster case with moulded overhanging cornice surmounted by a bell with acanthus leaf mount and flaming urn finial, over panelled and sectioned Brass inlaid side panels, to a plinth base and raised on four mercury gilt ball feet, to a single shaped and leaf decorated door with moulded convex glazed panel enclosing a signed 4 ¼" wide Brass dial, engraved with acanthus leaf and floral swag decoration within rope twist and oak leaf borders, to a applied Pewter chapter ring with outside minute track, and Roman numerals with star half-hour markers and inside quarters track, with polished centre, and foliate boss, with fleur de lys Steel hands, with waisted mid section and beaded tails, surmounted by a regulation ark, to a signed and waisted four pillar verge movement, with three spoke balance, with bridged frame secured with tulip head screws, over a back mounted count wheel with engraved Arabic numerals and Steel baluster indicator arm, and strike on a bell, height 11½"
