A Chinese brass mounted huanghuali and hardwood seal cabinet, Qing dynasty, applied with later pierced brass cartouches to the top and pair of doors, enclosing an arrangement of two long and four short drawers, 36cm wide, 35cm high, 27cm deep***CONDITION REPORT***The pair of doors, the side, top and back panels and the drawer fronts are made of huanghuali. The drawer linings are made of another hardwood. The central pierced bird and flower panel to the top and pair of doors have been applied later and are pinned in position and could be removed. The corner hinge lock plate side handles and the majority of the drawer handles appear to be original. One of the drawer handles is a later replacement of a different shape. The back panel and the back edge of the top has a split and large loss with some old glue around the area there is also an inserted piece of wood at the side of the back panel. A late 19th century French Louis XVI style inlaid mahogany and ormolu mounted credenza, of breakfront 'D' shaped form, with foliate motif frieze, centred with a panel of cherubs over a pair of marquetry inset panelled doors decorated with flowers and trophies, flanked by bowed glazed doors and divided by squared tapered columns, on toupie feet, width 170cm, depth 51cm, height 126cm.This credenza was probably retailed by Holland & Sons, as it was purchased by the owner’s ancestor at the same time as the Anglo-Japanese corner cabinet in this sale.***CONDITION REPORT***Overall in honest untouched condition, the top with good reddish colour, some scuffs and scratches and small losses to the veneers, the ormolu mounts now rather matted and rather oxidised in places, main doors and sides of the piece are all faded now to a mid matt brown tone, central doors have original locking bar with key and enclose two original adjustable shelves, side doors equally with original locks and key and both enclosing two original adjustable shelves, wear around the feet, but overall a good piece.PLEASE NOTE:- Prospective buyers are strongly advised to examine personally any goods in which they are interested BEFORE the auction takes place. An unusual Anglo-Japanese inlaid mahogany standing corner cabinet, by Holland & Sons, c.1880, of stepped form with open galleried shelves and velvet lined recess over two Japanese cloisonné enamel panel inset doors, flanked by mirrors and a further recess bordered by lacquered panels over a central glazed door flanked by open shelves, raised on turned tapered feet and ormolu mounted throughout, Holland & Sons stamp, width 98cm, height 258cm***CONDITION REPORT***Honest but now slightly neglected condition, rather dirty and dusty, with some oxidisation of the ormolu mounts and a little fading in places, upper recess looks to have the original faded and rubbed velvet lining, central doors have small losses around the edges and probably a loss of an ormolu strip down the centre, they enclose a purple velvet lined interior which again looks original, lock to door is present but no key. Mirrors to either side are oxidised, lacquer panels are a little rubbed and faded, ormolu beading left centre has approximately 2 inches missing and a crack to the wood below, further ormolu beading on the right side has sprung away from the edge, a short section of foliate pattern ormolu missing mid left above the first recess, this has broken away but is still retained with the piece, lower mirrors equally oxidised and lower lacquer panels equally faded and rubbed, main door has original lock and working key, interior has a single fixed shelf and is lined in faded green velvet, Holland & Sons stamp to the top of the main door.PLEASE NOTE:- Prospective buyers are strongly advised to examine personally any goods in which they are interested BEFORE the auction takes place.
