Late Period, 30th Dynasty, Ca. 332 BCA selection of four ushabtis, each in mummiform wearing a plain tripartite wig; the arms are crossed on the chest, and the hands hold a pick and hoe very faintly modelled in relief. The faces are simply defined with no attention to detail. The ushabtis flat-backed. A panel of hieroglyphic text running horiztonal down the column. Balochistan Nal. Ca. 2300 BCA beautifully painted pottery cup with a circular foot, a broad base, tall walls, and a slightly flared rim surrounding the deep basin. The cream-slipped exterior is decorated by a cencentral panel of registers, each separated by a section of interlaced hatching. Between these, a red painted rectangle with thick lines, with an internal rectangle of hatching design. Below the rim of the cup are three bands of lines, the central line painted in a deep blood red, encircled by two black lines. Late Dynastic Period, Ca. 664-332 BC A pale turquoise faience Egyptian shabti modelled with a tripartite wig and false beard. His arms are crossed and holding agricultural tools within his hands, with the seed bag hanging over his left shoulder. Saite Period, 26th Dynasty, Ca. 670-525 BC A large cedar wood sarcophagus panel covered in gesso and decorated with Nut to the centre with beautiful painted wings; underneath beside the three panels of hieroglyphs are decorated with deities including Hapi, Qebhefsenuef, Anubis and Khnum. Above Nut and on three horizontal panels are inscribed hieroglyphs translating top left "Words to be spoken by [...] , top right, "Words to be spoken by Nut the Great, who bore the gods [...]. Horizontal three columns: Words to Spoken by Imseti, Justified (Lit. True of Voice). May he give incense to Tjadihor. Words to be spoken by Duamutef, Justified! May he give goods/offerings(?) [...] An Offering which the king gives to Osiris, foremost of the West, The Great God,Lord of Abydos. May he give an incantation offering (consisting) of breed, beer, oxen, fowl, incense, Egyptian alabaster, clothing , for the burial [of ...]. Ptolemaic Period, Ca. 332-30 BC A rare cartonnage panel made to adorn a mummified body. The chest piece has an elaborate wesekh-collar surmounted with two heads of Ra-Horakhty, four mourners, djed pillar, and decorated with lotus petals, radiating bars and discs; the goddess Maat kneeling with arms raised and wings spread, hands holding the feathers of truth; below register shows the jackal-headed god Anubis, preparing the deceased body, lying on a bier which is lion-headed with animal legs; a stylised funerary mask is covering the head of the deceased and his body wrapped in bandages. Below the bier, are four vases which could possibly represent the canopic jars container the viscera. Above the mummy, is a flying bird with a human head, referred to as the ba-bird. The next last register with a heart scarab beetle with a sun disk crown. Item comes with a professional historical report from Ancient Report Specialists. John Balman (British 1964-): Capital of Corinthian Column with Face detail in Beverley Minster, oil on panel signed with monogram 24cm x 24cm Notes: John studied architecture in Hull in the early 90's and pursued a career as an architect until 2014 when following illness he was forced to change his life direction completely. He is now a painter of still life and portraiture based in Beverley. His style is influenced by contemporary Dutch realism. His paintings invite a sense of calmness through the restrained subject matter and interplay of light and colour.
