Castor’ a fine silk embroidered panel, the centre bearing an oval black and white photographic image of a British Naval Petty Officer flanked by eight flags, above a silk-work study of H.M.S. Castor under steam, framed and glazed, 49cm x 60cm. H.M.S. Castor was a C-class light cruiser, launched in 1915 she saw action at the Battle of Jutland, patrolled off the coast off Ireland in 1922, during the Irish Civil War, and transported troops to China in 1927, finally being scrapped in 1936
