Vienna porcelain cabinet plate with heavily gilded foliate and floral border around painted centre panel depicting two Classically dressed women. Hand painted title: 'Tandelei', with under glaze blue beehive mark to base. CONDITION REPORT: Good overall condition. Some wear to gilding but no obvious damage, cracks or restoration. Central panel is printed and painted. 9.5" high/24.5cm. 24cm diameter.

John Maltby (b.1936) Studio stoneware composition stylised abstract of man and woman beside rock pierced with holes, all moulded against backdrop and supported on textured painted wooden panel, stone-coloured glaze, impressed monogram, entitled on reverse "John Maltby, Two Figures and a Rock 2010", 25cm x 26cm overall John Maltby born in Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire 1936 studied Goldsmiths College, London. After a brief spell teaching went to work with David Leach at Bovey Travey from 1962 to 64 after which he set up his own workshop in Devon. His work can be seen in numerous public collections. His work can be characterised by the use of oxidised stoneware and enamel glazes.
