A large Chinese export silk embroidered panel, probably 17th/ early 18th century, made for the European market, perhaps Spain or Portugal, fragmentary composed of joined ivory silk panels, worked in polychrome silk threads depicting various floral specimens and unusual motifs such as an ostrich attacking a couple in 17th century attire, the Pelican of Piety, a hawk and a peacock, possibly worked by Chinese embroiderers working in India or Manila. 107.5 x 121cm.
