A child had died every year for forty years in the derelict, rubbish filled canal that ran through Miles Platting, Manchester, Phoebe and Alfred's Parish - they successfully campaigned for it to be filled in. 19th century French mantel clock with eight day movement, outside countwheel, striking on a gong, with Japy Frères stamp and signed - Rollin à Paris 3280, gilt metal dial with individual inset enamelled blue Roman numerals and pierced trefoil hands, in a boulle work case of waisted form, with glass panel and rococo gilt metal mounts, on four scroll feet, surmounted by a seated figure playing a musical instrument, 40cm overall height (pendulum present, key lacking) CONDITION REPORT General overall condition reasonably good. Movement is clean, no visible signs of repair but has not been removed from case. Pendulum is numbered same as movement and appears original. Suspension spring is broken and we are unable to say if movement is in full working order. Dial is good, no damage to enamel numerals. Hands very slight rust. Case is reasonable but needs attention. Inlaid brass decoration is lifting in several places on both sides and top. Background is cracked and has surface damage on top and left hand side.

19th century Italian carved shell cameo brooch, the oval panel relief carved depicting a classical figure group, in a yellow metal mount with engraved and openwork 'C' scrolls, 77mm x 65mm CONDITION REPORT Very good condition. No obvious damage or repairs. Mount appears to be gold but has not been tested. The cameo has no damage, minor signs of wear to the carving on the points of high relief. Wear commensurate with age. Total gross weight 27.5 grams
Victorian enamel and banded agate mourning brooch with central oval banded agate panel within an interwoven gold and black enamel ropetwist border, with glazed locket compartment to reverse with inscription dated 1892, in original fitted box and a Victorian gold and black enamel mourning bangle (2) CONDITION REPORT Brooch - very good quality. Good condition. Agate perfect. No obvious damage to the enamel, although when viewed with a 10x loupe, there appear to be shallow slither chips that possibly have been coloured in. Minor dents and abrasions commensurate with age. Original box. Brooch weight 23.5 grams. 45mm x 35mm. Bangle - very good condition. Inside stamped 9ct. Total gross weight 12.8 grams

Probably originally a brooch and there is evidence of a brooch fitting having been removed. Applied forget-me-not slightly loose
Important Imperial Chinese carved Zitan Scholars' box and cover - Qing Dynasty and believed 18th century, of rectangular form with rounded corners, on four short bracket feet. The four sides and cover finely carved in deep relief with figural landscapes depicting deer, cranes and elderly sages engaged in various pursuits beneath pine, paulownia and other trees growing amid a rocky landscape with flowing streams, bridges and walkways, the wood of a rich brown tone with smooth patina - fitted with later hinges, probably in the 19th century and inscribed on underside of cover 'M Dillon Pekin 1850', 21.5cm wide x 13.2cm high x 15cm deep. Provenance: In a private British Collection for many years CONDITION REPORT Very good original condition. Chip to framing of one side panel to cover. Chip and hairline to framing of cover. Small chip next to one hinge. Felt pads stuck to feet
