A George III enamel, diamond and hairwork mourning ring, the central circular black enamel set with rose cut diamond set urn, within a white enamel surround set with rose cut diamonds, on a white enamel band with a central section of plaited hairwork, engraved W'm Tipping, aged 17, died 23 Aug', 1792, finger size O 1/2, 6.4g grossWilliam Tipping was born on 11th March 1775 in Manchester, Lancashire. He died as a teenager on 23 August 1792 in Blackpool, Lancashire. He drowned whilst bathing in the sea at Blackpool, Lancashire. The Tipping family lived in Ardwick, a highly fashionable suburb of Manchester in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, where the very wealthy, such as Nathan Mayer Rothschild and John Rylands, built their mansions.Condition Report: The diamonds to the urn are all present and correct, but there are losses to the diamonds around the border of the urn, and around the shank. The urn panel has two slight dents and slight chipping to the enamel at these points. There are also five more obvious chips to the white enamel to the shank, however the majority of the enamel is present, and not re-enamelled. The hairwork is in good condition. An early 20th century garnet necklace, composed of graduating circular cut garnets in collet settings, stamped 9ct, 40cm long; and a Bohemian garnet brooch, 6cm long, 36.2g gross Condition Report: Necklace- the settings have no noticeable repair or damage, the links between the garnets have a bead added to ensure it hangs properly on the neck, stamped 9ct, the clasp is not original, but is in good working order. Some nibbling to the crown facets, a couple of small scratches to a couple of the tables.
