A Group of Important Works - To be sold Without ReserveA Khorassan engraved bronze oil lamp, North East Persia, 12th-13th century, of drop form on spreading faceted trumpet foot, with single spout, the wide rim with kufic inscription and the simple loop handle with thumbrest in the form of a bird, the body with cartouches containing interlaced scrolling vine, the foot similarly decorated with inlerlacing vine to each facet, a rope band to base, green patination and areas of encrustation, lacking cover, 18cm. high x 17.5cm long.Provenance: Acquired from Mr “K” on 5th March 1984.

A Group of Important Works - To be sold Without ReserveA massive Khorassan-style bronze lampstand, Northeast Persia, in the 12th century style, in three parts comprising a domed base with everted skirt extending to three paired hoof feet, rising in the centre to support the central openwork columnar section with a large boss above and below, flat upper tray with raised rim, the domed base, the two bosses and the central column each with a central band of hexagonal strapwork containing palmettes against a pierced ground, bands of benedictory inscription above and below, each of the powerfully fashioned hoof feet flanked by stylised birds' heads, the tray with an inscription, with four spouted oil lamp, 83cm. high, lamp 23cm. highProvenance: Formerly in a Private Family Collection since 1975.
