Tiffany Studios, a patinated bronze table lamp with a non-associated replacement iridescent glass shade,c.1910, bronze Stamped twice Tiffany Studios, New York, 419 S85 and Tiffany Studios, New York,The light fitments and arms supporting the glass iridescent shade, on a central stem with fluted circular base, on ball feet,34.2 cm highThe shade is not Tiffany. It is a replacement, maker unknown but appears to be from the same period, but the original would have had a wider diameter. The bronze base has dulled with age and surface colour is rubbed. With old marks and wear. The glass shade has a few tiny nicks to the edge of the neck rim that is concealed by the mounts.Electrical components have not been tested, and should be examined by a qualified electrician prior to any intended use. Re-wiring may/will be needed
W.A.S Benson (British 1854-1924), a silvered brass table lamp converted from an oil lamp, Late 19th / Early 20th Century, Stamped WAS over Benson on underside of one foot,The converted reservoir now with electrical fitments supported in a open frame work with leaf embellishment, on a faceted and knopped stem, the tripod base with shaped feet further decorated with leaf decoration and spherical weight,68.5 cm total height, Literature: Edited by Ian Hamerton, W.A.S Benson – Arts and Crafts Luminary and Pioneer of Modern Design, Antique Collectors Club, 2005, p.133, Pl.111 (variation of an oil lamp illustrated but with similar stem and tripod base); and p.284 (mark recorded as 'C')68.5 cm total height, to top of reservoir 59.5 cm high. Reservoir has been drilled at the bottom to accommodate the wiring and the top has been fitted with the fitment and a brass cap - no longer has accoutrements of the oil lamp. The silver finish is worn overall and on edges. Overall the structure is sound, the stem is slightly out of line at the top and one support arm a little lower than the others.
