1st-2nd century AD. A ceramic 'factory' oil lamp formed from a circular recessed discus with a pair of low-relief actor's mask, concentric rings to the underside with 'FO**IS' maker's mark. 80 grams, 85mm (3 1/4"). Property of a gentleman; acquired in the late 1960s-early 1970s. Fine condition.
18th-19th century AD. A brass ritual lamp for use in puja, comprising a domed base and bell-shaped body; the upper plaque supported by brackets, with piriform recess to one end, central socket, curved chevron, incised rosettes and other ornament. 2 kg, 44.5cm (17 1/2"). Property of a London collector, acquired early 1990s. Fine condition.

A bronze oil lamp with globular heart-shaped body and projecting nozzle with wide wick hole; oil hole to the back with scallop shell lid hinged to the base of a large equal-armed cross with ring handle to the back; pedestal ring to the base. 361 grams, 14cm (5 1/2"). Property of a South London collector; acquired before 1980. Fine condition.

A substantial cast bronze handle for an oil lamp or similar vessel; the shank a D-section curved bar with incised chevrons, lozenge and ribs to the outer face, collar above with zigzag detailing, the finial two parallel horse-heads with bridle detailing. 265 grams, 10cm (4"). Property of a London gentleman; by inheritance from collections of family members. [No Reserve] Fine condition. Scarce.

A pair of papier mache lamp bases with orb shaped body decorated over the entire surface with painted scene of hunters on horseback in a forest hunting tigers, hare, and deer; three medallions with scene of a youthful prince in a palace pavilion in counsel with ministers and courtiers; one of a bearded king in a high sedan chair holding a dove with courtiers to either side; one of a bearded king seated in a palace on a high sedan chair, holding a sword, with courtiers to either side; wide foot base painted with repeating leaf pattern. 2.32 kg total, 32cm (12 1/2").
