12th-13th century AD. A bronze oil lamp of typical form with bird finial on handle, also with bird finial to cover, engraved with bands of benedictory Kufic script, standing on tall pedestal base. 307 grams, 13cm (5 1/4"). From an important North London collection formed before 1980. Fair condition.
5th-7th century AD. A hollow-formed bronze slipper-shaped lamp with flared base, broad nozzle with annular socket, filler hole with hinged rim and separate hinged cap, cruciform handle with knop finials, loop below. 535 grams, 16.5cm (6 1/2"). The property of an English gentleman; formerly in a German collection; acquired 1980s-early 1990s. [No Reserve] Fine condition, handle repaired.

A bronze oil lamp in the form of Priapus, bearded head turned slightly to the right; hole to the top of the head for oil; wearing a V-neck tunic; hands holding a large penis with hole to the end for lamp wick. 115 grams, 70mm (2 3/4"). From a private collection; formed 1965-1975. Fair condition, some corrosion and holes.
